I been waiting to see if the mainstream media would pick up this story after the blogosphere put it in the spotlight with an emphasis on the lack of MSM coverage. As expected, the embarrassingly worthless news outlets in the mainstream media continue to ignore this story even though they capitalized on other stories that suits the msm agenda better.

Here’s the deal, 5 people were arrested for the brutal carjacking, gang rape, sexual mutilation, torture and murder of 23 year old Hugh Christopher Newsom and his 21 year old girlfriend Channon Christian. The crime started to unfold on January 7, 2007 yet many of you hadn’t heard about it until this week.

Hugh Christopher Newsom, Jr., 23, and Channon Gail Christian, 21, were a couple from Knoxville, Tennessee. They were murdered, raped (vaginally, orally, and anally in Christian’s case, and anally in Newsom’s) and tortured after being kidnapped early on the morning of January 7, 2007. Their vehicle had been carjacked.

Five suspects have been arrested and charged in the case. The grand jury has indicted the 5 suspects with a total of 46 counts including torture, murder, and rape. - Wikipedia

Before Christopher Newsom was shot and lit on fire he had endured being gang raped repeatedly by the 4 males while Channon was forced to watch. It is being reported that his penis had been cut off while he was still alive. After the brutal attack he was taken to some nearby railroad tracks, shot repeatedly and and then set on fire.

The fate of Channon was even more horrific. She was repeatedly gang raped over a period of 4 days and urinated upon. The group then reportedly cut off one or both of her breasts and poured Clorox down her throat to eliminate DNA evidence; again reportedly while she was still alive. It is being reported that authorities found her body in 5 separate trash bags when they searched the house of a man that had been traced from fingerprint evidence found in Channon’s Toyota 4-Runner.

The Knoxville Tennessee police department characterizes this as carjacking “gone bad”. You Think? What kind of statement is that to make. This was much more than that.

I can only speculate on why the media may not be covering this story. It is a fact that Channon and Christoper were white while all of the deviant murderers are black. Regardless of race this is a story that should be told. Contrast that to the coverage of other stories the media pounced on that weren’t even true, Duke Lacrosse, Tawana Brawley to name a couple. These stories took on a life of their own because they were peddled by race hustlers who have a stake in putting a politically motivated wedge between blacks and whites.

My question is this, where are Sharpton and Jackson on this case? As “reverends” shouldn’t they be speaking out against all injustices involving race or are they just a bunch of mind numb hypocrites who use race relations to line their pockets and put themselves in the spotlight?

As for the mainstream media I have to wonder why anybody still pays for a national newspaper. The fact that they haven’t covered this story is inexplicable considering the traction it has gotten in the blogosphere. Yes, I know they can’t carry every story but the horrendous nature of this crime warrants some exposure; especially in light of the asinine coverage afforded the Duke Lacrosse case which was only covered for two reasons, it was an alleged case of white on black crime and the white perpetrators were rich.

If in fact the media is trying to compete with the Internet you would think they would compete in the same space. Perhaps they have just resigned to being substandard and not cover it at all. It’s pretty bad when you get scooped by Wikipedia.
