Who Can Vote For A Guy That Can’t Come Clean About a Haircut?

One of the personality traits that is supposed to make a person Presidential timbre is honesty. Today’s politics is riddled with politicians that can’t be trusted for their honesty.
Of course there are degrees of honesty. So when a politician doesn’t come clean about getting a haircut you might think that it is no big deal. After all, spinning stories and half truths about haircuts is a small infraction compared to some of the more egregious deceits such as hiding $90,000 cold cash in a refrigerator.
But spin takes on a whole new context when it is done by Presidential contenders. Thus the ever evolving story of the supposed one off haircuts for John Edwards has resounding implications. Especially considering that the former Democratic Senator often plays the rich man poor man card whenever looking to conjure up the image of a caring man of the people versus the evil rich Republicans.
First the story was that Edwards got a few haircuts by “that man” and he didn’t realize how much they cost. The implication being that it was an honest oversight, a man of the people certainly wouldn’t have spent money so frivolously on something so materialistic as a $400 haircut.
But then the news eeked out that some of the haircuts were paid for out of campaign contributions. So in reality Edwards, the multi-millionaire worth somewhere between $12.8 million and $60 million dollars, didn’t even have the good sense to pay for the haircuts out of his own pocket.
Now we are learning that “the man” who cut John Edwards’ hair is not quite the stranger that John Edwards led us to believe. Joseph Torrenueva, hairstylist to the stars has cut Edwards’ hair at least 16 times over the last four years.
To top it off, some of those haircuts cost as much as $1200.
John Edwards, presidential candidate, man of the people, is sticking to his story.
Asked for a comment, the Edwards campaign said this week that Edwards had arranged for the stylist to give him numerous cuts over the past four years. But it said that a personal assistant handled paying for the haircuts and that Edwards didn’t realize how much they cost.
“Breaking news — John Edwards got some expensive haircuts and probably didn’t pay enough attention to the bills,” said spokeswoman Colleen Murray. “He didn’t lie about weapons of mass destruction or spring Scooter Libby; he just got some expensive haircuts.”
So you see, it’s always about someone else.
Perhaps I am splitting hairs here, but if a Presidential candidate can’t be genuine and honest about a simple haircut how can we expect him to be honest about the things that really count?

I’m with Ann Coulter. Anyone who pays $1200 for a haircut is definitly, beyond a doubt, a big flaming faggot.
