Bookworm linked up an article from Watcher of Weasel Council member Cheat-Seeking Missiles that discusses yet another radical from Barack Obama’s realm of friends and family. This time it is Kenyan opposition leader Raila Odinga, Obama’s first cousin according to a BBC report. He is also the failed Presidential candidate for Kenya that ran on a platform of change (sound familiar?) with the backing of Kenya’s Islamic leaders.

After losing the election Odinga helped lead a violent genocidal protest where his Muslim supporters burned at least 50 women and children alive in a church. Others weren’t so lucky, they raped the women and killed others by chopping them up with machetes.

Odinga also signed an agreement that if elected President he would implement Sharia law and oppose the United States.The Christian Post reported the following before the election in 2007:

Raila Odinga, the current frontrunner in the upcoming presidential election in Kenya, has promised to implement strict Islamic Sharia law if he receives the Muslim vote in the predominantly Christian country and is elected president.

A memorandum of understanding (MOU) – signed on Aug. 29 by Sheikh Abdullahi Abdi, chairman of the National Leaders Forum (Namlef), and Odinga, presidential candidate from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) – was made public on Nov. 27.

According to International Christian Concern (ICC), however, there are in fact two versions of the MOU. The persecution watchdog group claims that Abdi and Odinga signed a private MOU which is very different from the one presented to the public.

In the secret version of the MOU, Odinga allegedly states his intention to, ”within six months, rewrite the Constitution of Kenya to recognize Sharia as the only true law sanctioned by the Holy Quran for Muslim declared regions” if elected, according to ICC.

Odinga was educated in communist East Germany and vowed to oppose the U.S. War on terror.

Obama campaigned for Odinga, met and appeared with him several times, traveling with U.S. taxpayer money according to allegations.

This is not new news, just a well under reported story as noted by Jon Christian Ryter in January of this year:

In August, 2006 US Senator Barack Obama [D-IL] made a special trip to visit a special man in Kenya. The man’s name was Raila Amolo Odinga. He is the head of the National Muslim Leaders Forum [NAMLEF] in Kenya. The political party he heads is called the Orange Democratic Movement [ODM]—although there is definitely nothing democratic about his political party of NAMLEF. The ODM is dedicated to overthrowing the legitimate democratic government of Kenya. Odinga is not really concerned how he achieves his objective. It matters little to him if he assumes power through a free election—or by revolution. But, by hook or crook, he is determined to become the president of Kenya. If he succeeds, he will be president for life and Kenya will become another Afghanistan.

When the US Senator visited Kenya to meet with Odinga in Nairobi, the Kenyan government officially denounced the visit. And, most specifically, they denounced Obama. According to a Kenyan government spokesman, Obama’s bias for his friend was so blatant that the government found it necessary to complain that Obama appeared to be Odinga’s stooge. Not only did Obama campaign for his Islamic friend, he convinced former Clinton adviser Dick Morris to become Odinga’s campaign adviser.

In a wave of violence aimed at protesting what they call the illegal election of newly-elected Kenyan President Mwai Kibaki, a group of Christian women and children—some entire families—barricaded themselves in a church. Muslims, inflamed by Odinga’s men, torched the church and burned to death everyone inside. This is the man Obama campaigned for in Kenya, and sang the praises of. This is also the man who claims that Barack Obama is a close, personal friend. Christianity would be outlawed.
