Catching The MSM With Their Pants Down Isn’t Funny Anymore

There used to be a time when I thought it was a good thing to catch the MSM with their pants down. I used to love to read and write stories that exposed the corrupt agenda driven reporting of those who should know better.

After time it dawned on me that my premise was wrong; they knew better but just didn’t care. We were all sold a bill of goods. It was marketing at both its best and marketing at its worst. The professional label that was heaped upon the reporters of the nations major newspapers such as The New York Times and once reputable news organizations such as ABC News is now little more than a Cracker Jack tattoo.

But times are different and it isn’t funny anymore. It is my opinion that the MSM and its cohorts in the I Hate Bush Brigade have been willing accomplices in an effort to mislead Americans on issues of National Security, the War on Terror, the state of the U.S. Economy, Education, the U.S. Military, the flood in New Orleans and the list goes on and on and on.

The MSM is affecting world opinion, trying to alter foreign policy and telling half truths at best. This effort is perpetrated all in the name of a miserable failed ideology that is based on the warped perceptions of the left that are creations of such half truths and downright lies.

The MSM distortions, under reporting and downright misreporting pose a real threat to the future of this country. The effort is one that is played to and fed by politicians who have a stake in seeing the current administration fail.

But failure on that level means something more ominous for the future of our children. Every failure, perceived or real, in the war on terror is a set back for the future and a blow to the present. This is the Democrat platform that is pandered to and supported by the mainstream media.

So here we are, smack dab in the middle of another mainstream media meltdown. It turns out that the efforts of Stephen F. Hayes at the Weekly Standard to get the Saddam Hussein documents released will likely be a bit of an embarrassment for the MSM.

These documents might possibly contradict the MSM claims about all sorts of liberal bleating mantras. For instance, that Saddam Hussein might have been host to al-Qaeda, trained Islamic terrorists and that Saddam was working to hide WMD programs.

The discovery of the information on jihadist training camps in Iraq would seem to have two major consequences: It exposes the flawed assumptions of the experts and U.S. intelligence officials who told us for years that a secularist like Saddam Hussein would never work with Islamic radicals, any more than such jihadists would work with an infidel like the Iraqi dictator. It also reminds us that valuable information remains buried in the mountain of documents recovered in Afghanistan and Iraq over the past four years. - The Weekly Standard

So far only 50,000 of the 2 million items have been thoroughly examined. Yet the MSM is already selectively working to downplay the significance of the documents that contradict their world view while at the same time play up the significance of those that meet their Bush is Wrong criteria.

For instance, Webloggin member The Machete of Truth and others in the blogosphere such as Michelle Malkin have pointed out earlier that ABC news is putting editorial notes in their coverage of the documents. Rush Limbaugh must have been reading along as he mentioned it on his show later this afternoon. (Click here).

(Editor’s Note: The controversial claim that Osama bin Laden was cooperating with Saddam Hussein is an ongoing matter of intense debate. While the assertions contained in this document clearly support the claim, the sourcing is questionable — i.e. an unnamed Afghan “informant” reporting on a conversation with another Afghan “consul.” The date of the document — four days after 9/11 — is worth noting but without further corroboration, this document is of limited evidentiary value.)

(Editor’s note: This document indicates that the Iraqis were aware of and interested in reports that members of al Qaeda were present in Iraq in 2002. The document does not support allegations that Iraq was colluding with al Qaeda.)

Emphasis mine.

That’s the professional news media for you. I guess you really can’t teach the MSM new tricks.
