The Democratic Plan: Investigate

If you find nothing, then investigate some more and if that doesn’t work investigate again, just in case. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D - Shrill) has announced th Democratic agenda should they gain control of the House in the fall elections.
Part of that agenda is raising the minimum wage, (symbolism over substance) which is classic liberal interference over private business. They would roll back a provision in the prescription drug plan, (why not repeal the whole stinkin’ thing), adopt the recommendations of the 9/11 panel in their entirety, (including the flawed ones), and reinstate lapsed rules that say any tax cuts or spending increases have to be offset by spending cuts or tax increases to prevent the federal deficit from growing. The latter is a nice sentiment but rarely gets implemented properly when talking about Federal government. Tax cuts often help to increase revenue by stimulating growth. The big issue here is too much non-military spending - period. If the Dems are ready to change horses in mid stream and come out for spending cuts, I’m all for it. That would be real cuts and not just a reduction in growth. The final and most important plank in the Democratic gameplan though, is to investigate. Endless shrill investigations that will strangle the governmental process and assure that nothing gets done. They want to investigate the energy task force, intelligence and every aspect of the war in Iraq from the intel leading up to it to the contractors involved in the rebuilding. I suspect these desired inquiries come less from a burning desire for knowledge and are just harrassment techniques to get back at their political enemies.
Rep. Pelosi’s intentions are reason enough to support your local candidates. We have three here in Illinois that could use support in Peter Roskam (IL 6th), David McSweeney (Il 8th), and Andrea Zinga (IL 17th). The 6th and 17th districts are open because of the retirement of Representatives Henry Hyde and Lane Evans respectively while McSweeney is running against incumbent 1st term Rep. Melissa Bean.
