The Bottom of the Barrel

For those of you who voted for and thought it was a good idea for change in this past election, you better think again.
I certainly can understand your feelings about replacing Complacency, Corruption and Cockiness (credit the three “Cs” to Jerry M.) but what you have replaced the three ”Cs” with are the vileist of people who infest the bottom of the barrel.
It has only taken three months into this present Congressional term for Democrats to show who they are and what they stand for. They stand for absolutely NOTHING other than winning the next election at all costs. Military and human lives are irrelevant. The welfare of the Country is meaningless and taxpayers’ dollars are only a means to buy votes.
The Democrats once again showed why that they can’t be trusted on national security and have accomplished little to nothing constructive. Instead of leading by example they are showing to be more corrupt than the ones they replaced and they are out-porking the Republican porkers of the past.
If our society is decaying, it is decaying from a lack of leadership in Washington, the examples being set by Congress only makes one wonder why we pick our leaders from the bottom of the barrel. Patriotism is relegated to the history books about our founding fathers; character is defined as a lack of and has been replaced with words like greed and power, and fiscal responsibility means dolling out pork for votes.
This begs the question, “Why don’t good people wish to serve?”
(I should say at this time that there are some good people in Congress but they are too few and far in between. I would venture to say I could give good reason for replacing 80% to 90% of them and this includes both sides of the aisle.)
The answer to my question, it lays in what constitutes politics today. Good people of character and morals can not survive in a world dominated by greed and power. Only people who can show unbelievable amounts of callousness, arrogance, untruthfulness and ruthlessness can breed and sustain themselves in this type of climate. Thus explains, why we are represented by the maggots at the bottom of the barrel.
To digress slightly for a moment….
-
I heard former Congressman Tom Delay speaking the other day about the criminalization of politics today. He has been indicted for using Republican Campaign funds to get Republicans elected and a freebie golf trip to Scotland, this case is still pending. He stated that he has spent Seven Million Dollars to date on his defense. He also added that theScooter Libby legal defense bill is in the range of Eleven Dollars.
Tom Delay also said in his new book…..
Today it is not enough to defeat a man politically. It is not even enough to vilify him publicly. You have to carpet bomb his life. You have to make sure that he leaves office disgraced, bankrupt, and heading for jail. You have to ruin him in every way, and then dance on his grave.
Somehow the dollars spent here by the individuals plus the money that the government has spent which I am sure exceeds the individuals does not warrant the time or money expended for these charges.
What sane person would subject themselves to this kind of madness? And with that I must go because I am late for my ‘Anger Management Class.’
