Terrorism December 2008

Madrassas are alive and well in the Middle East, specifically in Pakistan. They continue to train future terrorists from around the world to hate the West, freedom and anyone who is not Muslim. The Islamist hatred, agression and intolerance for Christians is alive and well, resulting in hundreds -thousands of Christians harmed and killed, churches targeted, around the world. And the West continues to bend over for political correctness above security.
MEMRI says “The Madrassas are the Guardians of Pakistan’s Ideological Borders,” religious groups operate as political parties. The West can expect no changes in the curricula in the Madrassas in Pakistan or anywhere else. As Roger Gardner points out, “We are growing the next generation of jihadists right under our noses, here in Boston and New Jersey, and Dearborn; and we are not just permitting this to happen, we are actively promoting it.
Over the years, successive Pakistani governments have tried to introduce curricular reform in the madrassas. The only forum for the government to negotiate with the privately run madrassas is the Ittehad Tanzeemat-e-Madaris Deenia, an alliance of different federations of madrassas. It was through this forum that the government of outgoing Pakistan president Pervez Musharraf tried to get the madrassas registered with the government. However, this drive for madrassa registration did not get far; although several thousands did register, the government still had no control over them. [snip]
John E. Carey thinks that President Elect Barack Hussein Obama’s most dangerous appointee is Susan Rice for Ambassador to the United Nations:
Susan Rice is an affirmed internationalists. She apparently believe that groups like the United Nations should influence, in fact, in some cases direct, U.S. policy.
Susan Rice is considered the most liberal of Mr. Obama’s “insiders.”
Mr. Obama has promised her full Cabinet rank and removal from the normal chain of command for an Ambassador to the U.N. Rice will not have to answer to Secretary of State designate Hillary Clinton. [snip]
Mr. Obama’s appointment of Susan Rice indicates to Peace and Freedom that he is working toward his world and U.N. first agenda. (more)
Hasan Hammad, the Karachi unit head of Islami Jamiat Tulaba (Organization of Islamic Students), which is the student wing of Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan, said that the government was planning to change the madrassa curricula at the behest of the U.S. He said that any attempt to reform the madrassa curricula will not be tolerated, as the madrassas are Islam’s fortresses.
There is some good news in the war against Islamic terrorists. Female ‘al Qaeda Legend’ Terrorist Arrested by Belgian Police
Belgian police Thursday arrested a woman they called an “al-Qaeda living legend” as part of an operation to thwart a terror attack being planned to coincide with an EU summit in Brussels, a Belgian police source told CNN.
Police seized 14 people, one of whom was planning to carry out a suicide attack in Belgium, the source said. They had contacts at the “highest levels of al-Qaeda,” the source said.
The federal prosecutor’s office in Belgium identified one of the suspects as Malika El-Aroud, the widow of one of the men who assassinated a key opponent of the Taliban in Afghanistan two days before September 11, 2001.

Above: Malika El-Aroud is the widow of one of the men who killed Afghan anti-Taliban leader Ahmad Shah Massoud.
Some of the 14 suspects arrested had recently traveled to Pakistan and Afghanistan, officials said, and had planned to launch a suicide strike … Whatever their target, they were prepared to strike right away. They had said their goodbyes and prepared their martyr videos.
Suicide bombers will inevitably try their skills in Western countries. Attacks like the recent Mumbai India hostage attacks will also be on the terrorist agenda. The term hostage is not accurate, there was no plan for negotiations, demands, etc. The original intention was to kill as many as possible, perhaps 5,000, Jews, Christians and non-Muslims.
The Mumbai India attacks also point out some of the new tactics being used by Islamic terrorists:
Among their newer tactics is the use of women and even the mentally handicapped as suicide bombers. But the most common untraditional Jihadist to emerge is the white convert to radical Islam. At first glance, these pale-skinned Jihadists of European descent can pass for the average small town guy-next-door. And that’s exactly the point. (more)
Terrorism expert Steve Emerson says there’s no hope of victory in the war on terrorism until we call it what it really is.
This past Saturday, the New York Times ran an op-ed piece entitled “What They Hate about Mumbai,” focusing specifically on the free market sins of that great city. With contrived evenhandedness, the op-ed managed to blame both Hindus and Muslim extremists—without blaming either party in particular for the murderous attacks.
Without realizing it, the Grey Lady had hit upon a great travel series. In the best spirit of jihad for dummies, why not a year’s worth of op-eds focusing on “Why They Hate____” filled in, mad-libs style, with the U.S., Britain, Italy, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands, Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Israel, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, Kenya, and the other 74 countries where radical Islam has reared its violent head? With only the moral blindness that the New York Times could capture, each op-ed would portray the attacks in a contrived even-handed way, without blaming, or even naming, the perpetrators of the attacks—Muslim jihadists.
Watching and reading the last 5 days of reports of the Mumbai attacks was an Alice in Wonderland experience. Even after an Islamic terrorist group took credit, TV anchors and reporters assiduously avoided the term Islamic terrorist. They must have consulted with the Thesaurus for the Politically Correct to determine that the word “gunmen” would not offend any jihadist.
The real truth is that there is war against the West and the Jews by Islamic jihadists. (continue reading)
Suicide bombers, kidnappers, hostage takers, men who fly planes into buildings, can ad a new form of attacker to their arsenal … cyber attacks. The Pentagon’s primary secure internet information system has become the subject of a cyber attack.
Experts say the trouble originated in Afghanistan when an outside Internet Service provider (ISP) was hired to support the U.S. troops in Afghanistan. The ISP turned out to be a front company for former Russian KGB agents.
Fox news is reporting that an external drive like a “thumb drive” was most probably used to penetrate the U.S. system. U.S. experts are working to determine the full nature of the trouble.
External drives are no loger allowed in DoD systems, we are told. (continue reading)
The situation in southern Somalia is dire, perhaps irremediably so, says J. Peter Pham, PhD, calling Somalia the “last domino standing”.
Certainly if the United States and its allies lack the foresight and imagination to support the one stable and politically legitimate authority in the Somali lands, they will only have themselves to blame for the strategic repercussions – throughout the Horn and beyond – when the last piece standing is toppled over by the other falling dominoes. There is true unrest in Iran, student uprisings and clashes with authorities. The new administration will have to deal with Iran, and sitting down for tea won’t do it.
Dr. Walid Phares says, “The Guantanamo trials will provide leading figures in the 9/11 massacre their “moment” to deliver a blow to America’s psyche, image and legal system.”
Seven years after the beginning of the so-called “War on Terror,” the enemy’s ideology, strategies and methods still haven’t been officially identified. It is like using a World War I mind set to fight World War II terror strategies. First, Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and his comrades will use the so-called confessions deal to build a psychological environment for a martyrdom case: “istishaad.” They aren’t interested in saving their lives (at first, although they think they could), but in providing a maximum damage to their enemy through the tribunal proceedings. They will claim the court is not legitimate, the entire Guantanamo process as illegal and that they are ready to die as Jihadis in the path to Allah. Their first target is to grant themselves, in the eyes of millions of militants around the world the status of “Sheehada,” martyrs, even though they could survive it.
The “confessions” turned declaration of victory will be picked up by al Qaeda and other Jihadi groups and transformed into vital material for propaganda: videos, audio and texts. The “show” inside court will be used for indoctrination purpose around the world. A myth will be set in motion and emotional reactions to the “story” will be mutated into future revenge operations.
From there on, leave it to the architects of Jihadi propaganda: statements made by the defendants will be used by operatives online, in the chat rooms but also on Al Jazeera (by callers and guests), and in other medium to widen the radicalization of youth in the Arab and Muslim world and within the West as well. So all these years after September 11, 2001, it seems that the pacifists, multi-culturalists, Lefties have learned nothing. We cannot fight and we cannot win, when half of America is working against America and for the terrorists.
