The Daily Mail UK is providing details about the 9 terror suspects that were arrested in a foiled plot that would have involved the abduction of a British soldier, a good deal of torture, the forced denunciation of the war on terror, and an eventual beheading - all of it which would be captured on film in the jihadist version of reality television.

Perhaps the most spectacular and underreported fact in all of this is that 3 of the suspects are described as regular guys with a common Pakistani ancestry.

Those arrested included businessmen, a teacher and a father-of-four on benefits. All are British of Pakistani descent.

I don’t know what it is going to take to get the ostrich party to take their collective heads out of the sand but perhaps envisioning themselves at the mercy of guys like the ones described below will do the trick.

A foiled plot to kidnap, torture and behead a British Muslim soldier was orchestrated by Al Qaeda, police sources have said.

Officers suspect the mastermind behind the appalling attempt to bring the horrors of Baghdad to the streets of Britain is a senior Al Qaeda terrorist with close links to Osama Bin Laden.

The alleged plan was to abduct a Muslim soldier, mirroring the murders of British hostages Ken Bigley and Margaret Hassan.

The victim would have been made to plead for his life to Tony Blair, denounce the war and ultimately be executed - all on film.

In a move which would have caused unprecedented terror and revulsion, images of his death would have been posted on the Internet, security sources said.

They were originally targeting a Muslim soldier as an act of revenge and to sow terror into the hearts of all Muslims that help the west in the War on Terror. But that was just the original plan; backup plans could have involved any civilian or government employee.

Another aspect of this report that is sure to be underplayed by the MSM is that the scheme was foiled by the very same tactics that liberal Democrats decried on their golden path to power in November.

During a six-month, £10million surveillance operation involving 250 police officers and MI5, cameras, telephone taps and surveillance teams had been used to monitor the group’s movements.

Officers had hoped to keep the men under surveillance for a further two months to gather further intelligence but sources said the operation was brought forward following “clear indications” that the gang were making final preparations to enact their murderous plan.

One said: “Police had no choice but to carry out the arrests.”

Eight men were arrested in raids at 4am while a ninth was held on a motorway in the afternoon.

Those arrested included businessmen, a teacher and a father-of-four on benefits. All are British of Pakistani descent.

The nine men were arrested on suspicion of the ‘commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism’ under the Terrorism Act.

The scale of the operation, which involved hundreds of officers, prompted a protest from some local Muslims, who accused police of over-the-top tactics.

West Midlands Police said 12 addresses had been sealed off in the Sparkhill, Washwood Heath, Kingstanding and Edgbaston areas of Birmingham.

They included an Islamic bookshop which was co-founded almost a decade ago by Moazzam Begg, who was captured and imprisoned in the Guatanamo Bay camp in Cuba before his controversial return in 2005.

Police also searched a grocery store run by a respected Asian businessman.

If Moazzam Begg sounds familiar that is because he was a cause celebre for liberal activists who denounced his detention at Guantanamo Bay as unlawful and unwarranted.

Moazzam Begg (born 1968) is one of nine British Muslims who were held in extrajudicial detention in the Guantanamo Bay detainment camp, in Cuba, by the government of the United States of America. He was released on January 25, 2005 along with Feroz Abbasi, Martin Mubanga and Richard Belmar, without charge though he received no compensation or an apology. President Bush released Moazzam Begg over the objections of the Pentagon, the CIA, and the FBI, who warned that Mr. Begg could still be a dangerous terrorist. - Wikipedia

The events surrounding the thwarting of this plot are curious in its scope and magnitude. Somehow I think that activists would have outed the operation or come to their defense before the plot could have been broken up if they occurred in the U.S., especially considering the sheer number of people involved. Let’s hope that this isn’t the case but you never can tell until its too late.

Now I know what some of you on the left are thinking, “if we just left them alone they would go away”. But not so my friend. I am sure that the majority Christian population of Trinidad didn’t invite the radical Islamists who have plans to take over their government or that radical Islamists weren’t invited to go on a murderous genocidal rage in Darfur or implement Sharia law in Somalia. But that is exactly what is happening.

It would be nice to think that 9-11 was an anomalous band of renegade fanatics that blew themselves along with 3000 innocent people up in a carefully orchestrated ruse that was designed to look like an Al Qaeda terrorist attack. But the fact remains that they were al Qaeda; there was no war in Iraq at the time and they had been plotting this and similar attacks for many years. Sorry to break it to all you Bush conspiracy theorists.

The threat is real. We are reminded of this every day. 21st century Islamists with 16th century mindsets are spreading their hate and spewing their venom in a preparation for the return of the Caliphate. It’s that simple. Sympathetic liberals, Democrats in Congress, the ACLU and Muslim lobbying groups that deny these truths have become useful idiots in a war where the enemy understands us yet many here refuse to recognize them.

It’s OK to hope that things aren’t as bad as they appear, it is fine to wish that circumstances were different, but it is stupid and foolhardy to ignore the fact that there is a very large and growing population of radical Islamists who are plotting and scheming blow up our buildings, kill our children and end our way of life. It’s time that everyone wake up and face the facts. In a war where it is us or them there should be no question as to whom will win.
