Put 100 Liberal Hosts on Talk Radio, It Still Won’t Make a Difference

Failed Liberal Talk Show Host and Congressional Hopeful Nancy Skinner
According to Vermont Rep. Bernie Sanders, having liberals in charge of media outlets such as the “big three” television stations, CNN, MSNBC, NPR and the editorial pages of nearly all major American newspapers isn’t nearly enough for the left to get its message out. During comments he made at last week’s “Take Back America” conference, Sanders encouraged those in attendance to challenge the “right-wing nuts” on the radio and put pressure on local media outlets to hire voices with “alternative points of view”.
Despite Rep. Sanders’ fanatic assertions, talk radio isn’t saturated with conservative hosts as the result of some grand corporate conspiracy. The reason the left doesn’t have a presence in radio is because an hour of pure static would get better ratings than a liberal talk show host.
For example, WLS 890 AM in Chicago has made a valiant attempt at finding a ‘progressive’ personality to add to their programming line-up but, thus far, nothing has worked. They’ve tried different hosts, numerous time slots and a variety of formats but listeners have consistently rejected every one of them.
