Profiles In A Democrat Phenomenon – Obama To The Rescue

What does it take to become a political phenomenon in the Democrat party?
I am not sure if there is an exact formula but I think a couple of things help. For instance it is advantageous to be black or a member of any minority for that matter.
It also doesn’t hurt to have Hollywood on your side.
Finally you should take a couple of stabs supporting any liberal pet agenda item.
Ask Democrats what Obama has accomplished however and you are sure to get nothing more than a bunch of regurgitated platitudinous garbage that has literally been handed to them from the mouths of the DNC and the media.
This being New Hampshire, where citizens wait to see a candidate several times before declaring their allegiance, curiosity as much as real support attracted many of the people who came to see Obama. They wanted to know more who Obama is, what he believes and whether after two years in the Senate he is ready to be president.
“I need to know a little bit more about him, his stance on some serious issues,” said Marilyn Johnson of Kittery, Maine, who was in the front row in Portsmouth. She worried that he is too inexperienced to be president, saying, “I think it would be a mistake for him to run in 2008.”
Others were already ready to commit to an Obama candidacy. “He had the true spirit we’re looking for,” said Kathryn Frieden, a physician from Manchester. “I do hope he runs. I haven’t been so excited by someone since JFK, when he was campaigning when I was 10 years old.”
Hmm. I wonder where Friedan came up with this JFK comparison. Perhaps she has been staying up late at night watching the Biography Channel. They did a stomach churning comparison of the two that is little more than a transparent effort to draw this picture for liberals who can’t otherwise do this for themselves.
“First, how did one man inspire a nation and motivate Americans to work harder and give something back to their government? John F. Kennedy will long be remembered for challenging the American people–to put a man on the moon, put aside racial prejudices, join a volunteer corps to help undeveloped countries. Includes interviews with political satirist Mort Sahl and Cliff Robertson, who played JFK on film. Then, when he called himself “a skinny kid with a funny name” at the 2004 Democratic National Convention, his political star was already on the rise. By the time he decimated the competition in 2004 race for the Illinois Senate, he was the bona fide golden child of a Democratic party desperately in need of a winner.”
I wonder how this works out. On the one hand we have John F. Kennedy, a war hero that Democrats hang their hats on whenever given the opportunity. On the other we have the nations only African American Senator who has spent a short two years in office.
Politically he is an advocate of the new deal and embraces evangelicals. But I am stretching to find a link to Kennedy.
Of course the press never mentions Obama’s early drug use. Not that I believe that in itself should exclude him from his candidacy. But if we are going to hold Democrat’s feet to the fire we may as well be even handed. President Bush was berated for years by the press for alcoholism and alleged cocaine use. So perhaps that is the Kennedy connection that I have been having trouble finding.
Wikipedia notes that Obama has admitted this usage.
In Dreams from My Father, Obama writes about smoking marijuana and trying cocaine during his teenage years.[3] Inviting journalists to contrast his earlier admission with Bill Clinton’s “didn’t inhale” remarks made during the 1992 presidential campaign, Obama recently stated: “I inhaled—that was the point.”[7] Obama added: “It was reflective of the struggles and confusion of a teenage boy; teenage boys are frequently confused.”[8]
As hypocrisy goes I doubt we will hear much about this from the mainstream media as they work overtime to create the legend before he has really accomplished anything. Over here however we will be less forgiving. We will hold him up to the same standard that the MSM holds conservatives on a daily basis. Good luck Barack Hussein Obama; we will be watching for your candidacy announcement.
