Update, correction and apology: I got it wrong. It happens but it is no less embarrassing.
In reading through the comments I saw the following from Padananda:
The funny thing is, you don’t seem to have realized that the communists at Grant Park were *opposing* Obama–they see him (rightly) as just a more liberal capitalist and imperialist–they don’t like him at all. Please get your facts straight.
So I went backed and checked on the group and he was correct. In my haste I had thought these guys were representatives of Communist Party USA, which endorsed Barack Obama. It turns out however that they are actually members of Revolutionary Communist Party USA, a different group that opposes both McCain and Obama.
I should have checked more closely; I know better. So I deserve Android’s cut and paste picture which I believe is directed at me (or should be) (highlight his comment below to see what I mean).
I will admit when I’m wrong and in this case I was wrong about those guys big time. This site is nothing if it doesn’t portray the facts correctly.

All the hits on this page brought down my server. I have beefed up the back end image server and the pictures are back on line.
For the the last two days Americans have been inundated with glittery pictures from the Obama Rally in Grant Park. From the media’s point of view it was like the UN with all glitz and glam.
Away from the cameras was the garbage strewn by hypocritical environmentalists, kids that have probably never had to work for a thing in their lives. I especially enjoyed the rally goers that carefully placed their garbage on top of other piles of garbage as if walking the 20 or 30 feet to the readily available garbage cans was a chore.The city workers were constantly emptying out the garbage cans so it wouldn’t have been a problem to place the crap there. This is the sort of stuff the media would have had a field day with if it involved McCain/Palin. This article is about the media and the way it presents images to everyone to form a narrative. With luck people will look beyond the headlines and dig into the substance.
Here are some of the pictures I took before leaving the event. While the pictures are not indicative of all or even most of the attendees it is important to realize that salesmen never expose the flaws in a package when selling you a bill of goods.

Last night I posted a video of a rally in which someone was waving the communist flag around and I was criticized for making a big deal over one person…….
And your point ?
Are the streets suitable to lick after a GOP gathering, and have the neo nazis stopped attending GOP rallies while no one was looking, not to mention the “good republicans” who yell “Kill him” and “terrorist” at the mention of Obama’s name ?

What absolute drivel! I agree with cozmo — obviously they weren’t environmentalists (did they say they were??). Look at the character the individuals. Stop generalizing. the world is full of idiotic behavior in all sectors. It’s all part of human nature. Get over yourself. If you’re a better person, good for you, your parents must be so proud.
Sorry, but this is a bunch of attempts to show something that isn’t there. One banner for Communism ? A couple anarchists ? And as far as the “reliving the 60s” photo, you do realize that people that were marching in the 60s that might want to “relive” those times, they are in their 60s and their children are grown. Adults with children the age shown in the photo ? Not alive in the 1960s, so it’s a bit hard for them to “relive” a time they never experienced.
I voted for McCain and understand EXACTLY what Obama the socialist stands for. But if that is the worst you can find from the rally, then there was nothing TO find.
I was in Grant Park (overflow area) and it was great! Yes, there is litter…it is Chicago…it is a problem.
It was a wonderful evening and the media embraced the mood of the crowd. By the way, the area outside the park that you photographed…people had been gathering there since morning, so the “before the event” claims are bull. Chicago is a wonderful city.
Oh…and yes…people of different political persuasions were welcome. Heaven forbid we socialize with those who hold different views. “Communists for America” are looking for a better answer too. Just because you think that your answer is the only correct one and that everyone else hates America doesn’t mean that the crowds at Grant Park would have.
I notice no one chased you down for your opposing beliefs…that you were not shot or caught in a riot as so many predicted.
Give credit where credit is due…a wonderful and triumphant evening in which the people of Chicago joined the president elect with true joy and an understanding of the gravity of the moment.
Where were the millions for his party? More showed up for him in Germany.
Enjoy the time while you have it…after the sheer joy is over, like every other President before him…he’ll have to answer tough questions from the press that gave him a pass to begin with.
At this moment they are already asking, who is he…what does he believe in and how will he bring together a divided nation?
In reality if you think about it, there wasn’t a mandate for too much “change” gay marrage bans etc.
The true mandate was the economy, we all know that will take years to mend or worsen, depending on the tax programs or tax cuts.

This kind of thing is why I so enjoy being an Independent. As if it matters who is in the White House. One side attacking a guy who hasn’t even set foot on Penn. Ave. yet. The other side defending communists. Have you ever actually been to Europe? Somehow, I seriously doubt it. My wife and I just spent a couple weeks there on vacation a few months back . . . Dublin and London were cleaner than my hometown (which is a small midwestern town). And we went all over both cities – both sides of their respective rivers, upper class and lower class areas, tourist traps and completely empty areas. Heck, the villages we visited in Ireland were virtually perfectly clean. It might help to actually step outside and look around before you go criticizing.

Finally, deadrody, take a look around . . . virtually all of our allies follow a socialist economy. Moreover, the U.S. has had a socialist economy since 1777 and was, in fact, founded by agnostic democratic socialists (don’t believe me? Try reading Hamilton, Jefferson, Franklin, and Madison).

This is hilarious but it’s a product of people who think there is nothing to the left of the Democratic party. So PROTESTORS who have a vision far to the left of the democratic party are thought of as part of that party. Just like the anarchists who protest at the RNC and DNC conventions like clockwork every presidential election cycle. (FYI — Anarchists are against all government, Republican or Democratic.) The dummies on the right say “look at those crazy democrats!” It must be painful to have an ideological purview which is so narrow that you lump anyone who disagrees with you into one homogenous camp. It will not have struck them when they entered the voting booth that there was a guy named Nader, a woman from the Green party named McKinney and even a Socialist candidate (like, a real one, not a fairy land one) who it was possible to vote for, at least in my state this was the case. Of course the MSM is to blame for no one knowing who these people are. So this blog is right to point out that “they” are ignored, though does so for erroneous reasons.
I am a Republican, I voted for McCain and I am absolutely appalled with the false accusations that some of you “so called” Republicans are sending out. You should be ashamed of yourself. This is a Democratic nation and people have the right to chose who the President will be. Obama won by a large majority. Furthermore, it was a major event, of course there is trash! Also, tell me were on that sign does it say “Communists for Obama” and were are all the supporters. When did it become weird to go into a tavern and watch t.v., Id be willing to bet some of those people are Republicans and maybe some of them are visiting foreigners, that would be terrible!! And shame on those people for taking the kids to a historic event. I am disappointed that McCain lost but at the same time this is a historical time for the U.S. like it or note. You need to grow up, it’s politics.

Bruce, you are wrong, he did not win a large majority, he only won a majority (52%).
With that 52% the press and the Democrats are spewing that America is united in the excitement of our first black president. But just a short four years ago, Bush won 51% and the US was DIVIDED! So now we know that 52% is a LARGE majority!
That would explain the fervor of the HUGE problem of global warming (a lie)!
Let’s get on with the mistake of Jimmy Carter II and then we can correct the problem as we did in 1980!
For all those espousing “this historic event,” please remember that EVERY US election is a historic event. It means as President Lincoln stated, “…that government of the people, by the people, for the people” has not perished from this earth! THAT is historic!
Unfortunately, America has lost interest in our own Presidential Elections, just as the public had lost interest in manned-space flights during the mid-sixties. It took a near catastrophe in Apollo 13 to regain our focus. As in the seventies, it took the near collapse of the entire America dream before we realized that we needed some thing different.
The “change” that we are going to get will make us want for days gone by. As John Dryden stated: “For whatsoe’ver their sufferings were before; that change they covet makes them suffer more.”
As for the current situation in America: I pray for forgiveness, I hope for the best, but I plan on basic survival!

Of course, Bush was calling a less than 1% win a “mandate” to lead. Recall too that Obama’s 52% is much larger than Bush’s 51% because a heck of a lot more people turned out to vote (more than 10% increase over 2004). Not to mention that he won in states that haven’t voted Democrat since WWII.
Those people wearing the “Wanted for Murder” shirts….did they lose their Osama Bin Laden shirts ? He’s the murderer, and he’s the gutless COWARD that sends young Arab men to their deaths while he hides in the hills. Or how about a “Caught by the U.S. & Executed for Murder by IRAQUIS” Saddam shirt ? He gassed thousands of his own people for no sane reason. I guess that would be too wordy for a shirt.
Or how about a picture of the Taliban on front ? They’re the ones torturing and murdering their own women and taking their children into family dwellings as human shields, and assisting Al-Quaida.
