Obama Pig Comment: Not So Funny

Barack Obama has stooped to a new low, and I don’t mean his plunging poll figures. Obama, talking about VP candidate Sarah Palin, said ‘You Can Put Lipstick on a Pig, But It’s Still a Pig‘. Adding insult to injury, … the crowd applauded. Obama tried to save himself by saying, “You can wrap an old fish in a piece of paper called ‘change,’” Obama continued, “it’s still gonna stink after eight years.” Open mouth – stick foot in.
From Political Punch, blog, ABC:
UPDATE: Obama senior adviser Robert Gibbs insists the senator was not referring to Palin. “That’s an old expression,” Gibbs says.
Ben Smith at Politico reports:
The crowd apparently took the “lipstick” line as a reference to Palin,
John McCormack at The Weekly Standard says:
Hopefully everyone remembers that Palin’s RNC speech was so effective not because she was outraged but because she delivered a devastating attack on Obama with a smile on her face and a stiletto in her hand.
From The Swamp:
“You would think having gone through a hard fought primary with Senator Clinton, the Obama team would have figured out how to respectfully engage in a debate,” said Swift, [Former Massachusetts Gov. Jane Swift ] who described Obama’s comments as “the low road,” and said Obama’s aides and advisers have been similarly disrespectful.
From The Dude’s Blog, on Obama in general:
For months now, Barack Obama has been backtracking on his Primary Promises to Americans. The “post-partisan”, can’t we all just get along community organizer with a heart of gold, has been replaced by the petty old-style politician, clamoring for attention and demeaning and demonizing his political opponents.
So much for “A new kind of politics”
It has become clear to me that the Obama camp is in a quandry. They were thrown off-line with the addition of Sarah Palin to the McCain ticket and they have not figured out how to recover. They have no legitimate reasons on which to attack Palin, so all they can do are personal attacks like this, including attacks on her family, her children, … with lies. Yes, I say lies, because everything the Left has said about Palin has been proven false by sites like Fact Check.com.
