NY Democrat Governor To Issue Drivers Licenses to Illegal Aliens

Even the New York Times captures the key phrase in the opening paragraphs on the latest Democrat attack on borders, language and culture; they are doing so without regard to current law and WITHOUT LEGISLATIVE APPROVAL!
New York State, home to more than 500,000 illegal immigrants, will issue driver’s licenses without regard to immigration status under a policy change announced yesterday by Gov. Eliot Spitzer.
The change rolls back rules adopted four years ago under the Pataki administration that made it difficult, if not impossible, for tens of thousands of immigrants to obtain driver’s licenses because they could not prove legal status. Under the new rules, the Department of Motor Vehicles will accept a current foreign passport as proof of identity without also requiring a valid yearlong visa or other evidence of legal immigration.
The policy, which does not require legislative approval, will be phased in starting in December and will be tied to new antifraud measures, the governor said. Spitzer proposes legislation to add a residency requirement in a laughable stop gap measure to prevent illegals from other states from coming to New York for a license. Let’s get this all in order so that everyone can comprehend how dangerous and stupid politicians like Eliot Spitzer are.
He is essentially bypassing the legislative process by using the power of his status as Governor to implement a policy to allow illegal immigrants (i.e. criminal invaders) to obtain drivers licenses; a move that legitimizes law breaking people that come into this country without the least bit of scrutiny from either a health or criminal background perspective. Many of these illegals broke many crimes coming into the country including the trafficking of drugs and weapons. Yet this move to put them on the streets legally, despite their illegal status, is somehow going to make us safer.
But never fear, Spitzer has it all figured out, he will use the legislative process to verify the unverifiable status of residency for non-residents.
I have an idea. The best way to deal with this is for neighboring states to pass laws that don’t recognize the New York State drivers license, period. That would seriously shove Spitzer’s idiotic plans right back where they belong.
