You just can’t make these stories up. The reaction by the left to the British terror plot has been astounding in its sheer ignorance and utter kookiness. Republican conspiracy theories, politicized terror alerts and polls that advocate open communication with “terrorist states” are just a sampling of the luncay being spewed on the leftistsphere.

If we learned anything from the Ned Lamont party it is that you can’t underestimate how much of an impact ignorance and contrived news can have on forming the new base of the Democrat party.

A quick sampling of the Daily Kos leads the pack.

A new dk poll this morning indicates that 89% of those respondents believe that the United States should open up channels of communication with terrorist states.

This is along the same lines as the Jimmy Carter “reward the terrorists for being terrorists” mantra that would ultimately give legitimacy to those who seek power by blowing their enemies children apart limb from limb. You have to give the Koser’s credit though; at least they have a plan.

The dk’s (pronunciation left to your imagination) over at moonbat central also believe that President Bush concocted that foiling of the British terror plot in a effort to cower all of us God fearing Americans into voting for a tough Republican party. This is an offshoot of the conspiracy crowd that believes the Bush administration staged 9/11.

The above conspiracy holds water for the left up until the point where they want to use the same incident to highlight their belief that the Brits are better at rounding up terrorists and foiling terrorist plots than the United States ( read Repuglicans)

Although we do not yet know the scope or details of today’s announced counterterrorism bust, it’s generally worth noting that the British are a hell of a lot more competent in wrapping potential terrorism up than we seem to be, and that the British have accomplished this via normal law enforcement techniques coupled with apparently excellent human and signals intelligence. It’s also worth noting that at present, foreign involvement with the plot seems at this early stage to be primarily Pakistani in origin — one of those countries that has unambiguous ties to terrorism, as opposed to oh, say… Iraq. - Hunter - Terror Plot Thwarted By British

I don’t even have to quote the rest of the article to note how unhinged the Lamont power base has become. Let us consider the phrase “normal law enforcement techniques” for a moment.

The AP is reporting that the British used some of the following techniques to foil this plot:

The Guardian newspaper, citing unidentified British government sources, said that after the arrests a message was sent to Britain telling the plotters: “Do your attacks now.” That message was intercepted and decoded earlier this week, The Guardian said.

A U.S. congressman briefed by intelligence officials, who did not want to be identified because of the sensitivity of the investigation, said U.S. intelligence had intercepted terrorist chatter.

Newsday is reporting the following:

Were under surveillance

British authorities indicated that those arrested had been under surveillance since last year. Most were British residents of Pakistani descent. Some had been under investigation before for extremist activity, and they included a young Muslim convert and a teenager, according to the Times of London.

It seems pretty clear that these techniques are the very same ones that those on the left want to shut down; namely intercepting communications between terrorists and the surveillance of citizens who are clearly showing patterns of suspicious activity with potential links to terrorism. The whole concept is alien to the left. Note my use of the word potential. Not all surveillance will result in the capture of terrorists. However, the lack of surveillance will guarantee that we will miss many plots. The end result is death and destruction.

You will also note that the US likely did offer the Brits a helping hand.

“They often do dry runs,” said Bush’s Homeland Security adviser Fran Townsend, although she would not confirm the 48-hour timetable. As for the timing of the attack, Townsend said, “We know it was imminent. Do we know the exact day? We’re not prepared to say that, but we feel confident that this was closer to getting to the execution phase, where they would pull off the attack, closer to that point every day.”

These dry runs have been reported in the past extensively yet the left still hangs on to their belief that the “War on Terror” is a contived fictional ploy by the Bush administration to retain power. It is all made up.

So there you have it. This is a small 5 minute sampling of the Lost Kos. I could write a whole blog on their idiocy alone. Welcome to the new Democrat party, contrived ignorance and a spattering of an “Oh my gosh” is all you need to join.
