Memorializing a Suicide Bomber

Joel Henry Hinrichs, III was unsuccessful at blowing up a football stadium packed with innocent Oklahoma University students, so he settled by blowing himself up. Now he has a “memorial paver”, which at first was reported to be paid for by the University, but later reports say the father paid $150.00 for the memorial stone. However, Hinrichs father said, “”They never sent me any indication of cost…” … OU offered to place the stone and never billed him.

University of Oklahoma President David L. Boren said:

“We need to encourage understanding and compassion in our society instead of more anger and intolerance based upon misinformation,” Boren said. “What kind of people would we be if we refused to allow a grieving family the right to remember their deceased son or brother? Of course, if there had been any evidence that he was attempting to harm others our decision would have been different, but there was none.”

No evidence??? Really.

There are far too many unanswered questions about this case like: TATP, the attempted purchase of 22 bags of ammonium nitrate fertilizer, a large cache of explosives found in his apartment, 2 years unaccounted for after dropping out at OU in 2002 only to re-enter in 2005, his muslim roommate, etc….. See the chronological order of events pertaining to Hinrich here.

It was on October 1, 2005, when a backpack worn by HINRICHS containing the highly unstable explosive TATP (triacetone triperoxide), also known as the “mother of Satan” and a recognized favorite explosive mixture used by Muslim terrorists, detonated outside of a packed football stadium. HINRICHS was killed in the explosion that was heard four miles away and shattered windows of at least one campus building. Despite the official explanation offered by Oklahoma University President David Boren and FBI officials, it is reasonably suspected that HINRICHS’ intent was to detonate the backpack inside of the football stadium in an act of Personal Islamic Jihad. Evidence developed by the Northeast Intelligence Network - who were the first to break the news about the use of TATP, suggests that HINRICHS had ties to the Islamic community in Norman and attempted entry into the stadium on at least three occasions during the game, although could not successfully circumvent security. How does Hinrichs fit the “Way to Profile Domestic Jihad Terrorists“? After careful reading, Hinrichs seems to fit the label perfectly. But let’s not be ‘intolerant’ as Mr. Boren said. My all means, let’s memorialize this student and show our compassion. What do others have to say?

“I was just kind of horrified,” said OU football fan Jenny Clemons, who spotted the stone after OU’s Red-White game April 7. “I don’t think he has any business being out here.” [snip]

A Norman police bomb expert has said he believes the bomb went off accidentally and that the student had further plans. Clemons, 50, a hospital nurse, said, “I was in the stadium the day that guy blew himself up. … I feel like … if he’d been successful he would have killed a whole bunch of us at the football game.” (via Spleunkin)

More on TATP here at Bouphonia.

I have always thought there was more to this than we are led to believe by some officials. I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but if it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, walks like a duck … then it’s a duck. Or in this case … suicide bomber.
