McCain Takes New Hampshire, MSM Leaves Out the “But”

Update: BTW - I disagree with Allahpundit who is calling this “a disaster for Mitt Romney”. The reasons iterated below are why I hope Romney pulls it off since Thompson doesn’t look to be sustainable. Naysayers (at this point) are also forgetting the fact that Romney is leading the delegate race with 29 delegates to John McCain’s 9 and Huckabee’s 20. It’s silly to count Romney out at this point. Romney will spend his money at least through the many primaries that will come up through February 5th and make a decision at that time. McCain will struggle to keep up financially although tonights win will infuse him with much needed cash but will it be enough? The Republican ticket is not near decided and much can happen between now and then IMHO.

Original Story Below:

John McCain has been declared the winner on the GOP side of the New Hampshire primaries today with mainstream media pundits touting it as “a remarkable comeback” which of course is an indication that the media is full of shit once again. The ignoratti at the Washington Post are calling it a “crippling loss” for Mitt Romney in a move that continues the media’s dislike of the former Governor from Massachusetts.

John McCain is playing it up for all its worth, “Tonight we sure showed them what a comeback looks like” as are the bootlickers at just about every MSM newspaper:

“We showed the people of this country what a real comeback looks like,” McCain told The Associated Press in an interview as he savored his triumph. “We’re going to move on to Michigan and South Carolina and win the nomination.”

The Arizona senator rode a wave of support from independent voters to defeat former Gov. Mitt Romney of Massachusetts, a showing that reprised his victory in the traditional first-in-the-nation primary in 2000.

It was a bitter blow for Romney, who spent millions of dollars of his own money in hopes of winning the kickoff Iowa caucuses and the first primary - and finished second in both.

This is a triumph? John McCain was expected to win considering his record of winning the state in the past as well as the unbelievable amount of time he spent campaigning their sucking up to the states residents. As far as being bitter for Romney I’m not so sure. Yes, he spent more money than John McCain and made almost as many stops but McCain has a very problematic financial picture; so much so that he basically had to win New Hampshire just to stay alive. Both Romney and Huckabee were gracious in their defeats while McCain was defiant as if he had sown up the nod.

For me it comes down to not going the way the mainstream media would like me to go. The press loves John McCain, which translates to being more in line with their train of thought.

Consider this, 2008 is being touted as the year of change. McCain doesn’t even come close in that camp. 2008 is also enjoying record turnouts in the youth demographic which spells trouble for an old war horse like John McCain. The emotion on the left is fueled by anything but record or experience when it comes to Barrack Obama. He is a stealth candidate who hasn’t been tested or even minutely challenged on foreign policy or anything else expected of a President. In other words he is running on charisma alone, buoyed by the ridiculous love fest the mainstream media has for the man.

Do you think the youth of this country would vote for John McCain? I doubt it. Talk about digging a hole before we have even really begun. The press would love nothing more than to sink Mitt Romney who looks much more up to the task of courting the youth vote, is a successful business man, didn’t team up with Ted Kennedy on immigration, didn’t stifle free speech and vault 527’s to power as McCain-Feingold did and most importantly didn’t lead the gang of 14 that interfered with the Supreme Court nomination process. Those achievements all go to John McCain. Worse, McCain still dances around the issues and won’t admit to making mistakes in any of these cases. Wasn’t that the rub against GW?

So it is no wonder that the press is pulling for Mac the Maverick; he has been a consistent thorn in the conservative party base for some time now. A nomination for McCain or even Huckabee increases the Democrats chances in 2008 and they know it.

John McCain spent 46 days in New Hampshire to Mitt Romney’s 29 yet McCain only eeked out a 6% lead (38% to 32%), mostly on the backs of independent voters. That 6 point lead was afforded McCain despite the mainstream media’s incessant gyrations over the fact that Romney is a GASP MORMON. The idiots at the AP once again dragged that little fact out of the toolbox this evening as if that is supposed to scare us.

A Mormon, Romney aggressively courted Christian conservatives — some of whom consider Mormons members of a cult — and in doing so brought the issue to the fore in the 2008 campaign.

Isn’t it telling that the media doesn’t precede Senate Majority leader Harry Reid’s title with Mormon? Even more alarming is that the press is obsessed with reminding everyone that Mitt Romney is a Mormon yet they never mention the fact that their favorite candidate for United States President has a Muslim heritage at a time when this country is in a life and death struggle with radical Islamic jihadists! I mean it’s only fair to mention such news, and consistently remind people that Barack Hussein Obama’s father was Muslim as was his paternal grandmother. God forbid anyone ask any questions about that let alone mention it. In fact the mention of this fact prompts Democrat opponents to apologize for daring to bring it up. Shouldn’t we also expect the press to apologize every time they mention the fact that Mitt Romney is a Mormon or that Mike Huckabee is an Evangelical Christian?

Make no mistake about it. The press is attacking Romney because they fear him. He looks good, he’s successful, he comes from a liberal state and still managed to remain conservative without converting anyone in Massachusetts to Mormonism and he even managed to turn around the 2002 Winter Olympics. This is a can do attitude and that is scary for a press that would like to Republican’s to hang their hat on the same ol establishment candidate John McCain.
