It's Republican Extinction Time Again

Those wacky liberals in the MSM and the leftistsphere are up to their old tricks again as they fire up another round of doomsday predictions for the Republican Party.
Here’s a small sampling. Note the bias and forgiveness the libs in the MSM give Democrats as they deperately peddle their Republicans are on the brink of disaster apologue.
- The End Of the Right? - Washington Post, August 4, 2006
Between now and November, conservative leaders will dutifully try to rally the troops to stave off a Democratic victory. But their hearts won’t be in the fight. The decline of conservatism leaves a vacuum in American politics.
- Bush’s Base Betrayal - Washington Post, Sunday, May 21, 2006
For years, congressional Republicans have sold themselves to conservatives as the continuation of the Reagan revolution. …..
But over time, most of them turned into the sort of unprincipled power brokers they had ousted in 1994. …
White House and congressional Republicans seem to have adopted a one-word strategy: bribery. Buy off seniors with a prescription drug benefit. Buy off the steel industry with tariffs. Buy off agribusiness with subsidies. The cost of illegal bribery (see the case of former congressman Randy “Duke” Cunningham) pales next to that of legal bribery such as congressional earmarks. (side note: Does anyone think the misuse of legal earmarks is in the same league as hiding a hundred grand in bribe money in a freezer and redirecting Katrina aid workers on a mission to go rescue the loot?)

It may look like clear sailing for Republicans, but THOMAS E. MANN predicts a wave building for Democrats this fall - PA Post Gazette, Sunday, July 23, 2006
If history is any guide, we’re heading into a major political storm. And that means we could see a national tide in November that will sweep the Democrats back into the majority.
….
Only a quarter of the electorate thinks the country is moving in the right direction, and voters are unhappy with the economy under Mr. Bush. Finally, Democrats hold a double-digit lead as the party the public trusts to do a better job of tackling the nation’s problems and the party it would like to see controlling. Congress. - Forced Abortions = Trouble for the GOP - Daily Kos, Fri Jul 21, 2006
This week one of the many scandals festering in the Long Tail of the GOP Culture of Corruption spiked to the surface. The sweatshops, forced prostitution and forced abortions that Jack Abramoff and his GOP pals protected led the voters in Georgia to stop Ralph Reed in his tracks. Going into Tuesday the consensus was that Reed’s famed ground game would deliver thousands of his Christian Coalition Zombies and add another stunning victory for the Abramoff/DeLay/Rove wing of the GOP.
It didn’t happen. Ralph lost. And now, fear stalks the GOP.
I put the Daily Kos article in the group as an example of why the GOP should not buy into this ruse.
Besides showing how distasteful the nutroots have become the Kos article exemplifies how far the lefties have to stretch in order to claim victory. Ralph Reed didn’t lose anything to Democrats as you might be led to believe. He was booted out by Republicans who would rather see someone else represent them; someone who doesn’t give the Democrats an issue such as Abramoff. That person is state Sen. Casey Cagle.
The Lost Kosers also failed to mention that Cynthia McKinney is fighting for her own political life in the same State as Reed (as reported in the Washington Post today). Perhaps Georgia is becoming more centrist, and if so, that spells big trouble for Democrats.
Another item to note is that Democrats are largely at the beck and call of the Daily Kos style fanaticism on the left. This poses a bit of a problem because the article above exemplifies how the leftistsphere approaches the right and particularly those of faith. Catchy little phases like Christian Coalition Zombies is an offensive rallying cry to most of middle America. This kind of rhetoric leaves a bad taste in the mouth of mainstream America and represents a permanent stain on the Democrat Party. So I hope the nutroots ratchet it up because they can’t resist their own juvenile urges that display an overwhelming lack of maturity and ignorance.
Sorry to inform those on the left but this underscores the main reason that I and most conservatives would be hard pressed to vote for just about any current Democrat no matter how crappy the Republicans are.
Even the worst Republican is decades ahead in terms of views on the American military, U.S. security, border control, the Understanding of the War on Terror, fighting back the socialist rot from within the Democrat party, taxes, healthcare, immigration, affirmative action, social security reform, economic growth, parental rights, education, support for Israel, and even government spending (if possible the Democrats would gladly outspend the Republicans in building their Socialist panacea).
The only hope the Democrats have is if they can keep the conservatives at home. My prediction is that the left may gain some seats in Congress. But even in the unlikely chance that the left wins a majority in 2006 we will see more of them and not less. This will cause Republicans to come out in much bigger force in 2008.
However unlikely that scenario may or may not be one fact stands out. Democrats are not running based on their achievements or any semblance of a plan. Rather they are running on a rabid anti-Bush, anti-war, anti-Israel, anti-Corporate, anti-Government pro socialist platform that reads from the same tired playbook that has kept them out of majority power for the last decade.
So sit back, grab a beer and enjoy this encore presentation of Republican Extinction Week. This will give you an opportunity to plan a party for the repeat performance that is sure to be making the rounds in ever increasing fashion as we near Election Day 2006.

E.J. has a penchant for dire predictions when it comes to conservatives. The subtitle of his 1997 epic, ‘They Only Look Dead,’ was ‘Why Progressives Will Dominate the Next Political Era.’ Of course, since then liberals have lost both presidential elections and failed four consecutive times to take back Congress.

Liberal asshat E.J. Dionne Jr. has spoken! There is no such thing as a conservative majority in the United States. I guess I should give him credit for not demanding an immediate surrender by both the U.S. and Israel in the Middle East, the normal WaPo op-ed babble of late
