Israel Forced to Fight on Two Fronts, NY Times - Biased Again

A trend has become readily evident over the last couple of years with the NY Times and mainstream news sources of like mind. They have consistently taken numerous stances that lie in direct opposition to U.S. foreign policy while supporting the position of groups that have been heavily aligned with terrorist groups linked to al Qaeda.

Captains Quarters notes that today’s Steve Erlanger article in the New York Times is sympathetic to the Gazans and very biased against Israel despite the fact that the Palestinians created the current situation themselves.

This is the crux of the problem. It is not that anyone should have an exclusively pro-Israel opinion; it is the lack of any pro-Israel opinion that is at issue here. There does not appear to be much of any balance on the part of the left.

Ed was being easy on Erlanger and the Times. The title alone says it all, “Once Again, Gazans Are Displaced by Israeli Occupiers”. You need go no further to know that “Once Again” the New York Times has aligned themselves on the side of a whole population of people that overwhelmingly embraced the terrorist group Hamas in Parliamentary elections at the beginning of the year.

For those of you who need reminding, Hamas is the softer name put on the Islamic Resistance Movement. They are simply another front in the world wide crisis known as the Islamic jihad.

Time and time again the New York Times and other liberally biased newspapers have aligned themselves with stances that favor pro-terrorist groups that have declared themselves enemies of the United States and her allies.

If that isn’t enough, Hezbollah tried to take advantage of the Israeli conflict in the West Bank by staging a raid against Israel on the Lebanese border. Hezbollah is a Shiite Muslim terrorist group that is under the heavy influence of Syria.

Israel’s Prime Minister Ehud Olmert called the raid and subsequent kidnapping of two Israeli solders an act of war.

“I want to make clear that the event this morning is not a terror act, but an act of a sovereign state that attacked Israel without reason,” Mr. Olmert said. “The government of Lebanon, of which Hezbollah is a part, is trying to shake the stability of the region.”

The U.N. condemned the Hezbollah kidnapping but I am sure you will see a later condemnation against Israel for her “heavy handed” response.

Make no mistake about it. All of these militant groups are reported to be coordinating their efforts with al Qaeda through common channels of funding and coordination at some level or another. This coordination is especially important as al Qaeda seeks new sanctuaries in a world that has become much less hospitable for the terrorists organizations thanks to the U.S. war on terror. The West Bank, Syria, Iran and Lebanon are such potential sanctuaries.

Yet The New York Times leads the pack of liberally biased newspapers that conveniently ignores these facts. It is a mystery to me why people still lend these newspapers any credibility in the face of such one sided reporting.

  1. [...] Usually Webloggin cites to me.  Today I’m citing to Webloggin, which has an excellent summary tying together Israel’s ability to fight a war on two fronts (an analysis that references an equally good story the Captain wrote), and the New York Times‘ despicable bias regarding this war.  It harmonizes well with the NPR story I turned off in disgust this morning after listening to practically weepy questions about the “humanitarian crisis” amongst the Palestinians.  I’ve already made clear my view on the subject of humanitarian concerns and the Palestinians. The Jews of Israel are FIGHTING FOR THEIR LIVES. That’s why they are tough. This isn’t a game. It’s not a political discussion. It’s not a philosophical tete-a-tete. It is a war that has been in the making since Cain and Abel….
