Islamic Militants Attempt to Take Over U.S. Embassy in Damascus

UPDATE and Bump to top: True to form Think Progress gets the entire story wrong despite linking an update of the same AP article that I linked.
“Islamic militants attempted to storm the U.S. Embassy in Damascus on Tuesday,” but were unable to breach the embassy’s high walls. Four guards, all Syrian, were killed.
There is no mention of 4 Syrian guards being killed in the AP article. In fact the AP article still states that 3 terrorists were killed and one injured. CNN notes that 5 have been killed.
Sorry TP, instead of linking this under your Think Fast page perhaps you guys should simply think first! Why wouldn’t they mention the dead terrorists in any event?
Original Story:
================================
DAMASCUS, Syria - Islamic militants attempted to storm the U.S. Embassy in Damascus on Tuesday using automatic rifles, hand grenades and at least one van rigged with explosives, the government said. Four people were killed in the brazen attack, including three of the assailants.
No Americans were hurt, and the attackers apparently did not breach the high walls surrounding the embassy’s white compound in the city’s diplomatic neighborhood.
Fortunately no Americans were killed in the attempt. It did cost the lives of three of the terrorists; good for them. May they rot eternally in hell. Update: Add a fourth terrorist to the count of those killed by Syrian forces. Unfortunately one of the Syrian anti-terrorist forces was killed while helping repel the terrorists. More proof that terrorist have no allegiance to fellow citizens when it comes to spreading fear and violence.
The key to keep in mind here is that this was yet another attempt by Islamic militants to do harm to American citizens. There is no rule of law that these people adhere to, there are no Geneva Convention treaties that they have agreed to follow.
Yet in America we have a concerted effort by politically connected Muslim groups to erase the speech that ties the predominant religion and nationality to the terrorists. The American left has demonstrated time and time again that common sense measure such as profiling must take a back seat to political correctness. Security comes second. This explains why we get the following carefully worded statement from the state department.
In Washington, a State Department spokesman confirmed the attack by “unknown assailants” but had few details.
It is a pretty sad day when our very own state department can’t bring itself to say the words that all American’s need to hear. Islamic militants stormed the American embassy.
Even the Syrian government made it clear by minimally describing the “unknown assailants” as terrorists.
The Syrian Interior Ministry, which is in charge of police, said a fourth attacker now in detention was wounded in the incident, which it called a “terrorist attack.” The report, carried on state-run television, said anti-terror units brought “the situation under control” and an investigation was under way.
We must ask ourselves what security means to those who have been killed by politically correct policies that have allowed terrorism to fester? What does security mean to a country with open borders? Tough questions that deserve answers.
These are the questions that politicians are running away from in droves. It is our responsibility to hold their feet to the fire otherwise the next AP story may be reported from a town or city near you.
