Iranian Hostage Taking Crisis: It Was Stupid Bush's Fault Of Course!

If you are part of that handful of people that read the rants of lib bloviator Georgie Anne Geyer then you got a Daily Kosian treat of epic proportions Thursday as she discussed her views on Iran’s latest hostage taking escapade. I thought I had seen just about every possible excuse for Iran’s actions but I had yet to hear that President Bush made them do it; until now.

One does not need to forgive the Iranians’ depredations, either in the region or with the West, to suggest that, in order to achieve some semblance of peace in the area, the real questions that should be asked are these: Why haven’t the British learned from the destruction of their earlier colonial dreams? Why didn’t they warn an arrogant and unlettered Bush regime in Washington about the historical mires of Iraq and Iran? Why don’t we stop acting in ways — such as sailing provocatively around the Persian Gulf — that only give the Iranians the chance to do things that they think make them “win?”

Did you catch that “unlettered” label on President Bush? Here we have syndicated columnist Georgie Anne Geyer, a person who approaches Rosie O’Donnell in terms of shrill idiotic statements calling Bush stupid. Standard fare for the MSM nowadays although most of them aren’t unlettered enough to try and sneak it in under the guise of fancy words; most resort to innuendo.

This is the epitome of liberal obtuseness. It takes a true koolaid drinker to make excuses for Iranians who are killing American, British and Iraqi soldiers on a recurring basis; not to mention the scores of innocent Iraqi’s who are caught up in a war that is being fueled with Iranian help. “Why don’t we” stop acting as provocateur! Posed by Greer as a question but really more of a pronouncement on her part. Forget the fact that the British, U.S. and Canadian naval forces are patrolling Iraqi waters at the request of the Iraq government as they have been doing for years. Forget the fact that they were given the authority to do so by the United Nations. Forget the fact no country is operating in Iraq with aims to stake claim to its land and recolonize it under the flag of any foreign nation. Nope, forget all of that and give the Iranian’s a pass; we still have some Bush bashing to do.

Blow hards on the left like Greer adamantly defend their anti-American and anti-British rhetoric as patriotism by proxy. After all, what could be more American that vocalizing an opinion using your Constitutionally afforded freedom of speech? But I have news for Greer and her ilk; having a constitutionally protected right to make idiotic claims does not validate those claims as being American or patriotic. Otherwise, every sort of speech from shouting “death to America” to making excuses for Iranian hostage takers could be considered pro-American by proxy.

At the end of the day it boils down to who you believe. Georgie Anne Geyer and her friends on the left decided long ago that the murderous acts of terrorists and their sponsors can be justified by reason of Western malfeasance as viewed through a mixture of selective history and delusional fantasy. When in doubt believe anyone but the British or American’s.

On the other side of the coin is people like myself, people who understand that the aggression of terrorist states is made possible by apologists on the left who are more than willing to act as propagandistic shills for the Hitlers of today. I tend to believe the Americans and Brits over the claims of Holocaust deniers and advocates that preach death to America on a regular basis. But that is just me. Of course I could always claim that Bush made me write it.
