Iran - A Danger or Not?

The NIE report was released and the claim is that Iran has not restarted its suspended nuclear weapons program. However, Bookworm points out that she does not trust the NIE because of the intelligence agencies past ineptnesses and I have to agree with her on that. Compound this lack of trust with discrepancies with Israeli intelligence and there are questions.

According to Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak, “There are differences in the assessments of different organizations in the world about this, and only time will tell who is right.”

The American Thinker points out that Iran would not necessarily need to enrich uranium for bomb purposes because Russia could do that for them.

I have this to say, we know that Iran hates Israel and the West. We know that communist governments do not have any love for the West or for freedom. I think that it would be foolish for any clear thinking person to assume that our enemies are not our enemies because of an NIE assessment. The American Thinker also points out that if the NIE was wrong on Iraq’s WMD than the NIE could be wrong on this as well. Personally, I think Iraq had WMD and the WMD vanished into another country or is buried under the sand; however, if I am wrong and the NIE was wrong, it is conceivable that the current NIE report is wrong.

I think when we are dealing with a country whose leaders have openly expressed that they would like to see America and Israel’s demise we need to take this report with a grain of salt and keep our guard up.
