Fox News Forum moderator Chris Wallace confronted the candidates on their weaknesses, causing Rudy Giuliani to apologize for not vetting his former police commissioner, Bernard Kerik, now indicted on corruption charges.
Giuliani stuck to his talking points, even ducking a question on the so-called Fair Tax, which levies a 23-percent sales tax.
Wallace asked him if he had too much “baggage.” Giuliani said every candidate has made mistakes along the way. “I’ve made my share of mistakes. When I do, I own up to them, I learn from them and I don’t make them again,” he said.
Asked if he could promise there’d be no surprises coming out of the Kerik trial this year, Giuliani said yes.
“It has nothing to do with me. It’s been gone over and over and over again,” he said. (Source)
And so it goes. It appears that Rudy Giuliani is just tagging along for the ride nowadays. I personally loathe Romney - such a fake and arrogant excuse of a man. He really believes his money will buy him the White House.
I like Mike Huckabee. He is like a breath of fresh air, however, I still say he is not presidential material and I do not believe he would continue on and forge the war on terror effectively.
While McCain does not have my 100% endorsement - he does get a slight nod. He knows his stuff when it comes to the military, war in general, fighting this war and combating terrorism. I will vote for him if I have to, but he undoubtedly would never be my first choice.
Fred Thompson, like Rudy Giuliani is just hanging on at this point.
Ron Paul should have been shown where the “exit” sign was long ago. That man just needs to shut up. I still say he is a Democratic mole. I would not be surprised at all if it was revealed that George Soros is putting up his bank.
I am not at all pleased with how the GOP is lining up. It leaves a whole lot to be desired. There is no passion, no fervor, no fire. There is no one and nothing exciting in the line-up. Sure we can all nit pick, but truth be told the GOP is boring with their lack luster group. There just is not a candidate I believe can stand up to Barack Obama.
Obama will surely win the Democratic nomination and the White House. He brings a polarizing excitement for change that has not been seen since the days of JFK or Bill Clinton back in 1992. It is astounding when you realize that in New Hampshire Obama had six events to attend on Monday and the house was packed with an average of 3500 people at each one. Yet Hillary Clinton on the other hand had only one event scheduled on Monday and a turn out of only 200 people. It gives one reason to pause.
I certainly cannot identify with the ideals of the far left and I am not happy with the rigidity of the far right. I would like to see a happy medium between the two. If east meets west, then why can’t we have a right meets left?
Ideally the reasoning for a two party nation was so that all peoples would have a voice. I do not see why in the world we cannot come together for the greater good of this nation and its citizenry and have a mixed ticket.
Why not a Republican Presidential Candidate having a Democrat on their ticket as a Vice-Presidential Candiate or visa versa? It would not be the first time. Wouldn’t this nation be better served? Wouldn’t the people have a voice that is better heard? A representation of both parties running this nation might just catapult our Senate and Congress into doing some real work foregoing the bickering and pettiness that plagues them now.
All the blaming going around is not helping our nation. Whether people recognize this reality or not - the world watches our nation and how we handle or mishandle our elections. Our nations democracy is the epitome of democracy around the world. But of late this democracy has been slung through the mud. That must change and we Americans must have a better understanding of our nation, its inner workings, the Constitution, what it means to be an American, and what the war on terror truly means to Western civilization.
It took years for our nation to stabilize and stand on its own. Where is the patience regarding Iraq? How soon so many have forgotten history and the present history in the making. What kind of legacy does this leave for future generations to hold unto? It is remiss for any one of you to believe that our actions today do not affect our future and do not have far reaching consequences.
I am actually a bit envious of the Democratic fervor over Barack Obama. I would love to see that fervor being shown for one of our own GOP, but it is not happening and will not be happening this year in 2008. We have no Barack Obama - we have morals you say, but then, so does Barack Obama.
