Meanwhile CNN and Other Mainstream Media Outlets Fawn Over Anti-American Demonstrators
Not that you would know it by watching the mainstream media but the Gathering of Eagles faced off against the Democrat base in Washington and other cities. Big Dog was there as a participant in the event.
Thousands of veterans showed up to tell the anti-war crowd that they will never, ever steal victory from us like they did in Vietnam. I heard the anti war idiots down the street. There did not seem to be as many of them as there were us and that might be because it was cold and icy. We veterans are used to working in adverse conditions so we were able to accomplish our mission.
Justin Higgins from Right on the Right was there and posted some pictures. (see here and here for their coverage).

Here is a teaser from Justin. Stop by and see all the pictures not presented in the MSM
But seeing thousands of patriots, some barely able to walk, many still scarred outside and inside from their heroic efforts to defend our country during conflicts past, took a little of the edge off. Those patriots found out about the Gathering of Eagles through emails, word of mouth, on Free Republic, on Move America Forward, here on Hot Air and michellemalkin.com, all over the place. There was no Soros Santa on our side marketing the march and bussing people in from all over the country. People drove through ice storms to get there, because they believed it was their duty to support the troops who are putting their lives on the line every single day to defend us. And they were noticed. If you were there, you were noticed. March 17, 2007 was a day that will go down as the first day that patriots decided to answer ANSWER man for man and woman for woman. Cindy Sheehan and Jane Fonda and the anti-America chorus didn’t monopolize the day. Veterans, bikers, and moms and dads and kids wouldn’t let them. Not anymore. It was a historic day.
CNN had a writeup. Their emphasis?
Thousands in U.S., abroad speak out on war
- NEW: Counterdemonstrators rip up protester’s peace sign
- Cindy Sheehan likens Pentagon to movie’s ‘Death Star’
- Rally in Washington and Virginia ends after three hours
- Thousands also protest in other cities, countries as war enters 5th year
Do you ever get the idea that CNN is actually protesting with Cindy Sheehan? Who really gives a crap what she has to say? In fact the asses at CNN pretty much carried the message of the anti-war left throughout their whole article. I’m not even going to pimp them with a link; they don’t deserve traffic to their website.
The following excerpts should suffice:
WASHINGTON (AP) — Thousands of anti-war demonstrators and supporters of the U.S. policy in Iraq shouted at each other Saturday from opposite sides of a street bordering the National Mall as protesters formed a march to the Pentagon to denounce a war entering its fifth year.
The anti-war group carried signs saying “U.S. Out of Iraq Now,” “Stop Iraq War, No Iran War, Impeach” and “Illegal Combat.” The other side carried signs saying “Peace Through Strength,” “al Qaeda Appeasers On Parade” and “We Are At War, Liberals Root For the Enemy.”
Police on horseback and foot separated the demonstrators, who were on opposite sides of Constitution Avenue in view of the Lincoln Memorial. Barriers also kept them apart.
But war protester Susanne Shine of Boone, North Carolina, found herself in a crowd of counterdemonstrators. She came out in tears, with her sign in shreds.
“They ripped up my peace sign,” she said.Thousands crossed the Potomac River from the Lincoln Memorial to rally loudly but peacefully near the Pentagon.
“We’re here in the shadow of the war machine,” said anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan, whose soldier son was killed in Iraq. (Watch Sheehan march with a throng of protesters Video)
“It’s like being in the shadow of the Death Star,” she said, referring to the planet-sized warship in the movie “Star Wars.” “They take their death and destruction and they export it around the world. We need to shut it down.”
CNN did cover the message of a select few veterans (against the war of course, one of them a swift boat veteran)
Veteran says he’s conflicted
Saturday’s march was the main event in anti-war demonstrations around the country.
Rallies also took place in Los Angeles, California; Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Hartford, Connecticut; Lincoln, Nebraska; and other cities.
In Los Angeles, Vietnam veteran Ed Ellis, 59, hoped the demonstrations would be the “tipping point” against the war.
“It’s all moving in our direction, it’s happening,” he said. “The administration, their get-out-of-jail-free card, they don’t get one anymore.”
In Washington, war supporters played “The Battle Hymn of the Republic”; the anti-war crowd danced to Stevie Wonder’s “Superstition.” (See the results of CNN’s latest poll on whether Americans think the war is worth it)
Veterans, some from the Rolling Thunder motorcycle group, lined up at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.
“I’m not sure I’m in support of the war,” said William “Skip” Publicover of Charleston, South Carolina, who was a swift boat gunner in Vietnam and lost two friends whose names are etched on the memorial’s wall.
“I learned in Vietnam that it’s difficult if not impossible to win the hearts and minds of the people.”
Should we expect anything less? The mainstream media has sold themselves out as bona fide supporters of the enemy within and abroad. CNN reported the crowd to be about 1000 strong after 3 hours while the national park service estimate put the crowd at 30,000. That’s some difference.
Michelle Malkin catches the New York Times and Washington Post doing the same with their coverage. Figures, when those two papers aren’t giving away national security secrets they are busy boosting morale for the terrorists.
We shouldn’t expect the mainstream media to do a job that they have never done in the first place. Be sure to stop by those who were there to get the messages of support for our troops that the MSM so desperately tries to suppress.
