High Profile Democrats Show Lack of Compassion for New Orleans As They Root For Upcoming Hurricane

I’m sure that high profile Democrats aren’t the only people on the left that share the sentiments of former DNC Chairman Don Fowler (super delegate) and Congressman John Spratt (D-South Carolina). The two of them were unknowingly caught on camera gloating over Hurricane Gustav that is bearing down on New Orleans, saying it was a sign from God, “everything’s cool!”

Typically the Democratic leadership is a reflection of the American left. That’s why the video capture of the two of them licking their chops in glee over the timing of a dangerous hurricane is important. It’s not just their cynical attitude and lack of compassion for the death and destruction that Hurricane Gustave might bring to New Orleans and the rest of the Gulf Coast. It is an attitude that exposes what we always knew about Democrats; they have built a platform with a foundation firmly rooted in the need for American hardship, and they are actually happy when that hardship occurs; the worse for Americans the better for the Democratic Party.

All the fears of the families in the path of destruction, battening down the hatches and praying for the Hurricane to pass are inconsequential. The Democrat leadership is yucking it up while parents and homeowners lie in wait worrying that their family, their homes and a lifetime’s worth of possessions are safe. High fives on such a great news!

Oh yeah, they feel your pain once they get behind that podium. But it’s a different story when they think they are away from cameras as demonstrated by the quote below.

“The hurricane’s going to hit New Orleans about the time they start. The timing is — at least it appears now that it’ll be there Monday. That just demonstrates that God’s on our side. [Laughter] Everything’s cool.”

Do you libs get it yet?

An anonymous person posted the video to YouTube and published an accompanying article at the Red State blog. It was captured on a plane while the two Democratic leaders were talking in flight as they departed the Democratic National Convention.

On a plane from Denver to Charlotte following the Democrats’ convention, I found myself seated behind former National Chairman of the Democratic National Committee Don Fowler and Congressman John Spratt of South Carolina. Their conversation was interesting to say the least.

For example, they made fun of Sarah Palin for several minutes, Fowler calling her “Dan Quayle” on steroids and Spratt creatively describing her as “just terrible.” They both agreed that, “Other than the simple fact that she’s a female,” she has nothing to offer.

Then there was this gem of a moment from Fowler:

Note that slap against Palin? So they not only celebrate an upcoming Hurricane with glee, they also denigrate Sarah Palin, saying essentially that her only contribution to the party is the fact that she is female. Pay attention women, this is what the good ol’ boys in the Democratic party think of the opposite sex.

Remind me again, why are these people leading the Democratic Party? Better yet, why the hell is anyone voting Democrat?
