Democrats Out Saber Rattling - Against Bush

The Democrats and their left wing supporters at the Associated Press are out there throwing up flares, talking to crowds and possibly even using megaphones about a new subject today: national security.

This strategy is silly at best but lets not misunderstand its purpose. After weeks of smearing Sarah Palin only to see the Republicans swing to the plus column in national polls the left needs something new. And boy is it new.

Suddenly national security matters.

Here’s the real laugh riot of it all, after years of thwarting President Bush’s attempts to make this country safer with cries sympathetic to the legal plight of terrorists, Habeas corpus rights overseas, warrantless wiretaps, profiling by police and agents as racism, close Gitmo, no war for oil, NO WMD’s and all the other pro-terrorist talking points the Democrats and their supporters could come up with, THE DEMOCRATS ARE BLAMING BUSH FOR NOT DOING ENOUGH TO THWART TERRORISTS.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The United States remains “dangerously vulnerable” to chemical, biological and nuclear attacks seven years after 9/11, a forthcoming independent study concludes. And a House Democrats’ report says the Bush administration has missed one opportunity after another to improve the nation’s security.

The recent political rupture between Russia and the U.S. only makes matters worse, said Lee Hamilton, the former Indiana Democratic congressman who helped lead the 9/11 Commission and now chairs the independent group’s latest study.

Efforts to reduce access to nuclear technology and bomb-making materials have slowed, thousands of U.S. chemical plants remain unprotected, and the U.S. government continues to oppose strengthening an international treaty to prevent bioterrorism, according to the report produced by the bipartisan Partnership for a Secure America.

The group includes leaders of the disbanded 9/11 Commission, the bipartisan panel that investigated government missteps before the 2001 terror attacks on the United States.

Funny thing about that Partnership to Secure America and their mission statement that claims: “We believe that the United States is being ill-served by the growing partisan divide surrounding its national security and foreign policy. Although partisan rancor has traditionally stopped “at the water’s edge,” this tradition of bipartisan cooperation has eroded significantly in recent years in negative and harmful ways.”

So what do they do? Well naturally they send one of their leaders out to the mainstream media to attack the Bush administration and play partisan politics. Sounds very Democratic Party like to me, say one thing out of your mouth and blow another out of your backside.

Who sits on that much adored board over at the PSA? Well let’s see, there is Sandy Berger, the former Clintonista that stole documents from the National Archive.

The board also features Warren Christopher, Clinton’s former Secretary of State. Christopher is a lifelong Democrat and served as an “observer” for the Gore recount efforts in 2000.

Let’s not stop there however. There is Zbigniew Brzezinski, one of Barack Obama’s foreign security advisers and  a former Jimmy Carter National Security Adviser. Brzezinski encouraged China to support Pol Pot (rationale, they could fund the Khmer Rouge but we couldn’t). Brzezinski is well known for supporting policies that are, ahem, anti-Israel (surprise).

There are many more on the board, including Republicans, but one has to question the objectivity of a board that would include current Obama advisers and Sandy Berger. That is unless you are a two bit operation like the Associated Press. Then you merely do their bidding.

Note: Admittedly I haven’t seen the whole report as the story just came out but I question any report that includes so many former policy makers that have helped put America in the predicament that it is in today. There may be some valid points in the actual report and the democrats are likely to be cherry picking whatever it is they want to highlight but I find it stunning that these people keep showing up on the scene.
