Democrats Push Iraq Surrender Bill Through The House

Path is set for Harry “Defeatist” Reid
Democrats in The House of Representatives threw in the towel today in what is clearly a propaganda victory for al-Qaida as 218 American Congress men and women attempted voted to pull the rug out from under the new commander in Iraq a mere 2 1/2 months after he was confirmed. Thirteen Democrats sided with the republicans while 2 republicans flipped to the left in a pork laden bill that demands troop withdrawals by October 1st or sooner if Iraq doesn’t meet benchmarks that will be likely impossible to meet.
This is a clear challenge to President Bush by a defiant cabal of Democrats who never had any plan other than defeat. To sit and act like the American military never had a chance was less a statement of ability and more of a statement about Democrat support for the war in the first place; or more precisely, lack thereof. If in fact the U.S. military pulls out of Iraq before the country is secure the Democrats may claim a political victory at home but it will come at a great cost. Iraq will further descend into a state of violence and the terrorists will know that the way to defeat America is through the hearts and small minds of the Democrat party.
The White House immediately released a statement. “Tonight, the House of Representatives voted for failure in Iraq - and the president will veto its bill,” said White House spokeswoman Dana Perino.
The Press Secretary also issued the following on the White House web site:
Seventy-nine days after President Bush sent Congress a request for emergency war funding for our troops, the House of Representatives has passed disappointing legislation that insists on a surrender date, handcuffs our generals, and contains billions of dollars in spending unrelated to the war.
Last November, the American people voted for a change in strategy in Iraq – and the President listened. Tonight, the House of Representatives voted for failure in Iraq – and the President will veto its bill.
Democrats have forced this process to continue for too long. The President calls on the Senate to quickly pass this legislation so the President can veto it and then work with the Congressional leadership on a clean bill that funds our troops while respecting the judgment of our military commanders and helping ensure the safety of the American people.
Update: Reactions are as expected:
“Al-Qaida will view this as the day the House of Representatives threw in the towel,” said Rep. Jerry Lewis (news, bio, voting record) of California, ranking Republican on the House Appropriations Committee. “There will be no greater event to empower radical Islam than our retreat and defeat from Iraq,” said Representative Jeb Hensarling of Texas, leader of a conservative wing of House Republicans. “Every generation of Americans have had their obligation to stand up and protect their country, not just for today but for tomorrow and the next generation,” House Minority Leader John A. Boehner (R-Ohio) said. “We have a solemn obligation to the American people to finish the job we started.”
Perhaps one of the more obtuse statements came from Pennsylvania Democrat Patrick J. Murphy who is standing in as the token veteran for the Washington Post.
“How many more suicide bombs must kill American soldiers before this president offers a timeline for our troops to come home?” asked Rep. Patrick J. Murphy (D-Pa.), a freshman Iraq war veteran who lost nine fellow paratroopers this week in one of the deadliest attacks of the war. “How many more military leaders must declare the war will not be won militarily before this president demands that the Iraqis stand up and fight for their country? How many more terrorists will President Bush’s foreign policy breed before he focuses a new strategy, a real strategy? This bill says enough is enough.
Let’s see if we can follow the idiocy of the statement and unravel the logic for Murphy. Using his logic we should never enter any war if we are up against the tactics of terrorists who use suicide bombers. Instead we should bend to their will and surrender because he isn’t willing to hunt them down and kill them when they threaten Americans, our allies or the innocent Iraqi’s who get caught in the crossfire. This guy is a disgrace.
Newsflash to Murphy, 3,000 Americans were killed in one day when terrorists used airliners as jumbo bombs and blew themselves apart in the worlds biggest suicide bombing to date. The nine fellow paratroopers that were killed in Iraq this week went on to fight the war that Murphy used as a political stepping stone on an anti-war platform. They were killed by al-Qaeda; the very same terrorists who blew up the twin towers and dive bombed the pentagon on that fateful day that took the lives of 3,000 innocent Americans.
Murphy’s reference to “military leaders that declared the war will not be won militarily” is premised on a lie conjured up by Harry Reid who is an anti-American coward by lobbying for U.S. defeat as a political pawn instead of doing the honorable thing and pulling for a victory that would unquestionably provide a stabilizing force in the worlds most dangerous hot zone. Want to see progress? Win the war.
Iraqis are standing up for themselves as best they can despite the tripe dished out by defeatist democrats. Unfortunately they are up against unsurmountable odds if left alone to deal with Al-Qaeda, Iran, civil violence and the Madhi army.
Finally, the idea that the war on terror will breed more terrorists is possibly the stupidest statement anyone can make and is surely a sign of either a liar or someone who suffers from dementia. The surefire way to breed more terrorists, who by the way have been terrorizing for 3 decades, well before Iraq, is to send them the message that their tactics can win. Only an idiot could be blind to that fact. Good job Pennsylvania in delivering Patrick J. Murphy to the U.S. Congress.
The Democrats are the best gift the terrorists have received apart from the mainstream media. Together they make up the strongest front on the war against the United States. This bill is simply another battle won by al-Qaeda.
