Democrats Melt Down as Congress Returns From Vacation

The Democrats are proving once again that they are no better, and perhaps worse at leading Congress than the crappy 109th that was supplanted by the buffoonish dems in November. The AP, perhaps equally inept in its reporting as Congress is on leading the country spells it out in Congress returns, ready to battle Bush.

Now I would think that most American voters had expected to read something like “Congress returns, ready to lead the country” or even “ready to lead anything”. But no, we are stuck with a bunch of crybaby idiots whose sole job is centered around the advancement of Bush Derangement Syndrome. Forget the war on terror, forget spiraling gas prices, forget immigration. Their war is with President Bush.

The AP reporters are like court jesters, always trying to please the crowd with out of context anecdotes. For instance, I have read twice this morning that an increasing number of Republicans are challenging President Bush’s Iraq War Policy - as I did in the following quote from the AP report.

WASHINGTON - Congressmen returning from their Independence Day break are ready for battle with the White House, with Democrats decrying President Bush’s commutation of former aide I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby’s prison sentence and fighting Bush’s latest claim of executive privilege.

Both events occurred around Congress’ vacation, inflaming an intense battle between Democrats and Bush over his use of executive power. There was relatively high tension on both ends of Pennsylvania Avenue as majority Democrats — and increasing numbers of Republicans — challenged Bush’s Iraq war policy.

But when it comes to mentioning those Republicans the AP is silent. Could they possibly be talking about people like Arlen Specter, a person who has been one of those increasing numbers of Republicans for some time now; especially whenever the AP needs to drag one out as an example.

But this is the least of the AP’s shortcomings in the report. Like the parroting morons they are the AP repeats Democrat Senator Pat Leahey’s assertion that Scooter Libbey was commuted by the White House to keep him from testifying about Dick Cheney. Hey newsflash to you guys, the CASE IS OVER! He was already sentenced you dolts. Patrick Fitzgerald was done with that line of questioning long ago when he determined that there was nothing there. Libby was convicted or perjury because that was all there was left.

Yet the AP, never one to question or correct the record of Democrat actions is happy to add fuel to the fire for derangements sake.

Leahy and others said they suspect that Bush commuted Libby’s sentence to keep Vice President Dick Cheney’s former chief of staff from revealing internal White House discussions.

So they are talking to the prosecutor in the CIA case, Patrick Fitzgerald, about testifying before Congress, several senators said Sunday.

“I think you may very well see Mr. Fitzgerald before the Senate Judiciary Committee,” Leahy said on CNN’s “Late Edition.”

We might yet get to see Congress concern themselves with the ultra-important task of taking a second shot at Scooter Libby, spending millions more of American taxpayers’ money in that quest (What’s a few million more among friends? All the while fretting over budget shortfalls of course.), and of course seeking surrender in Iraq. It’s what they do best, the new Democratic way; same as the old. What a complete and utter joke.

Update: Here is the list of Republicans that the MSM is using as a sweeping example of defections on the issue of Iraq:

Most prominently is Senator Richard Lugar, head of the Foreign Relations Committee. Last month he came out looking for a way out of Iraq. Democrats are hoping that Lugar will provide cover for other Republicans who are weighing the issue.

Along with Senator Lugar is Sen. George Voinovich. This was less of a sideswipe than Lugar but the action did work in a limited aspect as Voinovich took the Lugar cover.

However none of this resulted in any action, for now it’s just testing the waters. Nonetheless the MSM is ramping up the narrative of Republican defections now that the Democrats are looking to resurrect the issue.

I would expect both Lugar and Voinovich to wait until after Gen. David Petraeus reports to Congress in September before they actually take formal action.

Others to watch will be the Republican Senators who voted against the troop surge in February. Altogether 7 Republicans crossed party lines in an effort to end debate on a Democrat resolution opposing the surge, Sens. Norm Coleman (R-Minn.), Susan Collins (R-Maine), Chuck Hagel (R-Neb.), Gordon Smith (R-Ore.), Olympia Snowe (R-Maine), Arlen Specter (R-Pa.), and John Warner (R-Va.).

I am still waiting for the poll that asks Americans if pulling out of Iraq would be the popular choice given the possibility that it will likely strengthen al Qaeda and Iran and could result in a new wave of genocide in the wake of the U.S. departure. If pols and media wonks are so concerned about getting to the heart of the matter then why don’t they ask this very simple question?

If you want to see what a solid Republican looks like see the Michelle Malkin article on Jim DeMint.
