Democrats, Appeasers, Eagles, and Parrots By Barbara J. Stock

donkey.jpgSir Winston Churchill, who today would be considered the master of the one-liner, understood politicians extremely well. With this simple, timeless, but quite accurate statement, Churchill captures today’s liberal Democrats in the American Congress without ever meeting any of them: “When the eagles are silent, the parrots begin to jabber.”

The cacophony of parrot-jabber coming out of the House and the Senate is deafening and the racket doesn’t stop there. There has been plenty of blather coming from the green zone in Iraq as well.

Like a herd of donkeys, some Democratic presidential hopefuls stampeded into Iraq so that they could claim to have seen the problems first hand. Of course, there was little that could be seen from the green zone or over the wall of bodyguards that constantly surround visiting “dignitaries.”

Hillary Rodham Clinton, looking fashionable in her body armor, lamented about how the American people and the American Congress no longer believe that the Iraq “mission” can be won. She found the entire situation, “heartbreaking.” After giving her encouragement to the troops about their failed “mission,” she turned her attention to the Iraqi government. Hillary promptly endeared herself to the democratically elected government by practically calling them all useless liars.

After her whirlwind assessment of an enormously complicated situation, Hillary jetted back to the states to give a press conference on the situation, based on her less-than-one-day visit to Iraq. The Hillary solution, and Democratic opinion as a whole, is to “redeploy” the troops outside of Iraq. “Redeploy” in the liberal dictionary means “retreat.” Victory no longer has designation in the liberal version of Webster’s. It doesn’t exist.

The only plan put forth by the Democrats has been to “redeploy” our troops “outside” Iraq. Where and in what country has not been decided. Although at one time, John Murtha, (D-Penn.) suggested Guam. Then, when the mass slaughter of anyone who assisted the coalition forces starts, and the elected Iraqi officials are all hanging from the streetlamps, our troops could rush back in and stop it. Is it possible to “rush” our troops and their supplies and equipment back from Guam?
