Decision to Exclude Ron Paul Backfires on Fox News

Nah, I’m not a Ron Paul supporter, nor am I often a critic of Fox News; a station that I consider to cover politics in a much more professional manner than CNN, CBS or MSNBC. However, when a news station does something stupid, like say exclude a popular candidate from a Presidential debate before a primary, they should be called out on it.
In this case the NH GOP did the calling and dropped their sponsorship of the Fox News Forum.
The New Hampshire Republican Party dropped their affiliation with a Republican debate sponsored by Fox News tomorrow night because they have limited the number of candidates that can participate.
“The first-in-the-nation New Hampshire primary serves a national purpose by giving all candidates an equal opportunity on a level playing field,” said Republican chair Fergus Cullen. “Only in New Hampshire do lesser known, lesser funded underdogs have a fighting chance to establish themselves as national figures.”
The Fox debate is excluding Texas Congressman Ron Paul even though he polls higher in New Hampshire and has raised significantly more money, and is campaigning more in New Hampshire than Fred Thompson who is invited.
Talk about giving the nutroots more reasons to make fun of Fox.
The reason I think Fox news should include Paul is because he takes a stand on many issues that many of the mainstream Republicans would prefer to avoid. It gets them a little unnerved and there is no better way to judge these people than when they are in an uncomfortable position. It’s certainly better than having a cheering squad up there, all towing the same line.
Fox News should be embarrassed by this choice. If the candidate is marginally in the running they should have a spot on the platform.
