=========================================
While watching the on-going Katyusha rocket attacks on Israel, one can’t help but take a brief walk down memory lane to a time not so long ago when London was being bombed by V1 and V2 rockets courtesy of Adolph Hitler.
Per Flying Bombs and Rockets:
The V1 Flying bomb and V2 Rocket attacks on London between June 1944 and March 1945 were the last great challenge of World War II that the people of London were to face. 2419 V1’s, otherwise known as Doodlebugs, were to wreak chaos and carnage. Later over 500 of Hitler’s Rockets, the V2, were to strike. In total approximately 8938 died and tens of thousands were injured. Some of the major London tragedies such as the Guards Chapel, Aldwych, New Cross Woolworths, Hughes’ Mansions and Lewisham Market disasters are well documented. There are, however countless domestic tragedies where people died in their own homes, were grievously injured, lost loved ones or suffered the loss of all they owned.
Sounds oddly familiar doesn’t it? Substitute Hezbollah, Syria and Iran for Hitler and voila! You have today’s war in the Middle East… You hear sooo much about how Lebanon is suffering. I wonder why you hear next to nothing about the suffering in Israel.
Take a look at what is being thrown at Israel – per Wikipedia:
Katyusha multiple rocket launchers are a type of rocket artillery built and fielded by the Soviet Union beginning in the Second World War. They are multiple rocket launchers able to deliver a devastating amount of explosives to an area target in a short period of time, although with low accuracy, and then take a relatively long period of time to reload. Compared to other types of artillery, they are fragile but inexpensive. Katyushas of World War Two, the first self-propelled artillery mass-produced by the Soviet Union, were usually mounted on trucks.
Katyusha weapons of World War Two included the BM-13, light BM-8, and heavy BM-31. Today, the nickname is also applied newer truck-mounted Soviet multiple rocket launchers—notably the very common BM-21—and their derivatives worldwide. It can also refer to Katyusha artillery rockets launched individually using man-portable launchers, a mode of attack sometimes used in guerrilla warfare, military harassing fire, or attacks against population, for example by the National Front for the Liberation of Vietnam, Hezbollah, the Iraqi insurgency, and the Taliban.
As many as 200 Katyusha rockets are hitting Israel a day and today a drone was shot down that was surely headed for Tel Aviv. If Tel Aviv is struck, this will certainly widen the conflict into Syria and Iran. We are back to fearing a nuclear assault every day with the newest sunrise.
As in World Wars I and II, this is not an enemy we can ignore and now is the time to stand staunchly by the Israelis and fight. The Islamofascists will have no mercy over those they conquer or in war itself. Through Islam, there is only one victory and that is when Moslems are victorious. Cease-fires are simply used to regroup and attack from renewed strength – they are the ultimate Trojan horse.
