Yes, that is correct. Bank of America is doing smashing work offering up credit cards to those without social security numbers. The criteria is that the person must have had a checking account for three months without an overdraft.

In recent years, banks across the country have been offering checking accounts and even mortgages to the nation’s fast-growing ranks of undocumented immigrants, most of whom are Hispanic, the paper said, adding these immigrants generally have not been able to get major credit cards.

The new Bank of America card is open to people who lack both a Social Security number and a credit history, as long as they have held a checking account with the bank for three months without an overdraft, the Journal said.(emphasis mine)

Here is an idea for our government who obviously have trouble enforcing our current laws on illegal immigration:

With banks doling out mortgages to illegal immigrants, or to be politically correct, “undocumented immigrants“, why doesn’t the government subpoena the bank records? This would kill two birds with one stone. A bank will not give a mortgage without verifying employment. By subpoenaing the records the government can enforce our laws by A) deporting the individual(s) who are here illegally. B) Monetarily Fine or imprison the employers who are employing these individuals illegally. The same applies to credit cards; banks will also have these records.

Then when the government is done doing that part of its job they should go after the banks since this is in violation of federal law-1907 Title 8, U.S.C. § 1324(a) Offenses.

What happens when these individuals default on the card/mortgage loans? Who absorbs that? I’ll tell you who. It will be us taxpayers via higher interest rates or something along those lines. We know that illegal immigration has burdened other parts of our society; a few examples that come to mind are health care and education. According to this Frontpage Magazine article the approximate cost:

In California alone it’s at least $1,500 per taxpayer, depending upon what tax bracket you’re in. If, of course, you’re making over $300,000-$400,000 a year, then you’re probably paying about $12,000 a year in support payments for the illegal alien benefit programs. If you’re making only $30,000 a year, you’re probably only paying about $200. But roughly it averages out to at least $1,500, and maybe $1,800, per taxpayer in California…and that’s just for California benefits.

Personally, I think that Americans should boycott businesses/banks that think that these practices are alright. Such practices are not alright. They put a heavy burden on our society and also encourage illegal activity. Reuters points out that the WSJ article claimed that these are mostly “Hispanic” individuals, misleading the reader to think that this is really harmless business because these are people looking for a fair shake. However, I wonder how many “undocumented” terrorists will be allowed to get a mortgage or credit card without a social security number. They can charge their bomb making materials and then not have to worry about paying the bill because they would have blown themselves up or blown this pop stand back to their homeland. Meanwhile, the Americans that escaped that fate can pick up the tab. How nice does that sound?
