Audio: Mayor of Waukegan IL Joins Vote to Deport Violent Illegal Aliens

Jose Guzman of Waukegan sticks his finger in the chest
of supporter trying to enter the city council meeting.

The keywords here are “violent” and “criminals”. Pro-illegal immigration supporters were shipped in from Chicago and other nearby towns to protest the city of Waukegan Illinois for seeking an application for the federal authority to deport immigrants who have been convicted of serious crimes. We are talking about sex offenders, drug dealers and other crimes that have become rampant since sanctuary cities like Chicago decided they would ignore federal law and give criminal immigrants protection even when they have committed a crime.

Mayor Richard Hyde not only supported the bill but he actually voted for the first time in his tenure in a symbolic effort to show the alderman that he supports the measure. The proposal passed by an overwhelming 8-2 margin. Hyde is out to clear the record on the intentional misinformation campaign that has been started by pro-illegal immigrant activists that oppose even the most common sense enforcement such as is the case here.

Hyde appeared on Chicago’s Wind, 560 a.m. with hosts Cisco and Big John Howell. He said the move is designed to help the federal government by taking care of the paper work that would otherwise act as a bottle neck in the deportation process. There is no new law being proposed; only enforcement of existing laws. They aren’t even looking to deport illegals that stay out of trouble. This is a must listen to see how the mayor shuts down the race baiters that try to demonize Americans for standing up for border enforcement.

The Lake County News Sun interviewed the mayor and an alderman who had the following to say:

Basically, he said this is a matter of speeding up the paperwork to deport criminals.

“I want these people off the streets,” Hyde said.

“We’re not going to enforce any more laws than we enforce already.”

The vote to reconsider the application was 8-2 to continue the process, with 1st Ward Ald. Sam Cunningham and 4th Ward Ald. Tony Figueroa dissenting.

“I am opposed to illegal immigration,” Figueroa said. “But I am also opposed to demonizing immigrants.”

He also offered a brief history lesson. “The biggest wave of illegal immigrants was from 1860 to 1920 to settle the West.” He added that during that time native cultures and people were “totally annihilated. Take a look at the history of this nation, and put it in proper perspective,” he said.

Echoing nearly every alderman, Figueroa said, “Our federal government had the opportunity to resolve this issue, but they didn’t. Now Waukegan is the lightning rod for the whole United States. 287(g) is not the answer.

Second Ward Ald. John Balen also invoked history in explaining his vote in support of 287(g). Too many immigrants were enticed here as cheap labor and were exploited. Balen also cited more recent history when more than a decade ago the federal government convicted the city of discrimination. “The problems we have today did not start a month ago,” Balen said. “They started a long time ago,” he said, referring the lawsuit. “That was the beginning. It turned every single-family home into a boarding house. This has been building up for 12 to 14 years. There is a lot of smoldering resentment in this community.

Balen based his vote on the rule of law. “If we don’t obey the law, we really don’t have a country,” he said.

Ninth Ward Ald. Rafael Rivera based his vote on the belief that if it takes one criminal off the streets of Waukegan faster, it’s worth it.

“We need to address issues that affect the issues of all our citizens first,” Rivera said. ‘

Many businesses supported the move. Hyde said that opponents of the proposed application tried to strong arm businesses with threats of a boycott but that such a move only hurt the Mexican American community.

This is a classic example of what we are up against. Open borders supporters are so willing to defy the laws of this land that they are protesting a move designed to take violent criminals off the street. These activists are another example of the enemy within. Thankfully law abiding citizens and legal residents have had enough of their garbage. They can ship their protesters in wherever they want. The message is clear, Americans don’t want to continue the trend of government sanctioned lawlessness. Either abide by the laws of this country or get the hell out. Period. Dot. Bingo.
