Amnesty Despite the Will of the People

Hit MeThis article is my follow up to my earlier post on the betrayal of the American people by pro-amnesty, pro-illegal immigration politicians.

I believe that the conservative base is being taken for granted. Republicans and democrats alike are treating us with the respect they would give a pinata. The worse part about this whole fleecing is that the man I defended for 5+ years is leading the pack. President Bush is once again proving that he is tone deaf on the issue of immigration.

Count me in as one of many who are simply not going to vote for these people come 2006 and perhaps beyond.

Here’s the deal. I was once resigned to the fact that we are going to have to deal with the immigrants that are already here. In fact I was brain washed, sleeping at the wheel solution wise.

My thought process went something like this. Well, they are already here and they are not going back so what’s the harm? I will call this the no harm no foul naivety stance.

This stance preceded the march of the Mexican flags as organized by La Raza along with anti-U.S. organizations such as the lefty pro-communist groups Not in Out Name. They spit in my face, willing participants in a march for everybody’s interests except the United States.

My former stance also preceded the branding of pro-border Americans as racists and Xenophobes; only this time it was by pro-amnesty Republicans in unison with Democrats, illegal immigrants and the hard left groups whose interests don’t include what is good for democracy. Thus this venomous hateful speech was targeted towards me and people like me; someone who doesn’t see any of this as an issue of race.

This was immediately followed by the troops of politicians and rabid talk show seminar callers. I actually heard multiple people claiming that they were going to take back their country. I heard one caller threaten Americans with the rath of the immigrant. Americans don’t have the back bone nor the ability to defend this country against the immigrants who were coming to take back what is rightfully theirs he said.

By this point I realigned my stance and had done the research. Much more information is trickling in and it is apparent that the voice of the people is not being followed. I am in the majority yet the soulless politicos snub their noses at us as if they know better.

The statistics paint an ominous picture that runs counter to all the rhetoric we have heard come out of the mouths of pro-illegal alliances mentioned above and elsewhere. This group sadly includes my President along with a cadre of sell out greedy power hungry empty shirts who he has aligned himself with.

The propaganda war is running full steam. We are about to be inundated with polls that will paint things every which way, as if any single poll matters. This is a matter of common sense. The numbers don’t lie. The impact of illegal immigration is a net negative, depressed wages, fewer jobs for legal workers and families, higher crime including rape, muder, burglary, etc., increased welfare , a strain on education, increased costs for national security, increased costs for federal, state and local law enforcement all of this on the dime of the American taxpayer. Talk about a negative return!

My new stance is clear. Close the borders, enforce the laws of this country, severely penalize those who hire illegals, severely punish politicians and U.S. government employees who facilitate illegal immigration, stop the industry of human smuggling over our borders, promote English first and shut down the welfare system for non-U.S. citizens.

Closing the borders should be priority number one, followed by removing the perks of being an illegal immigrant such as taxpayer supplied healthcare and education. This includes deporting the criminals back to their countries of which they are citizens. Then, and only then can we deal with the immigrant population that hangs back.

I am of immigrant ancestry much like most of my friends and relatives. My immigrant heritage is the product of hard working law abiding Americans who followed the rules and were willingly assimilated into American society. They did not give up their identity. They proudly called themselves Italian Americans. I simply call myself American, born and raised on this great land, a mixed bag of nationalities that epitomizes the promise of this nation.

It is time to send this message to our politicians. Say no to amnesty and yes to pro-American, pro enforcement immigration policies. Let them know that your vote is not to be taken for granted.

Some sobering statistics: (I don’t even have the room to print even 1/1000th of the statistical data as it would take a whole web site! Here are a few stats that should stick in your mind)

  • 95 percent of all outstanding warrants for murder in Los Angeles target illegal aliens.
  • Los Angeles County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich said Tuesday that he will tell Congress that close to 100,000 children of illegal immigrants in the county collect $276 million in annual welfare benefits. This is in one county alone!
  • A 2004 study found that Illegals cost U.S. $10 billion a year. A figure that I believe is a gross underestimate because it is based on the 2002 census. Nevertheless, the study found that this figure would grow to $29 billion a year with amnesty. The study found each illegal-alien household used $2,700 a year more in services than paid in taxes in 2002. Expenditures included Medicaid ($2.5 billion); treatment for the uninsured ($2.2 billion); food assistance programs ($1.9 billion); the federal prison and court systems ($1.6 billion); and federal aid to schools ($1.4 billion), the Center of Immigration Studies reported.
  • The U.S. Justice Department estimated that 270,000 illegal immigrants served jail time nationally in 2003. Of those, 108,000 were in California. Some estimates show illegals now make up half of California’s prison population, creating a massive criminal subculture that strains state budgets and creates a nightmare for local police forces
  • In March 2000, Congress made public Department of Justice statistics showing that, over the previous five years, the INS had released over 35,000 criminal aliens instead of deporting them. Over 11,000 of those released went on to commit serious crimes, over 1,800 of which were violent ones [including 98 homicides, 142 sexual assaults, and 44 kidnappings]
  • The proportion of immigrant-headed households using at least one major welfare program is 24.5 percent compared to 16.3 percent for native households.
  • Investor’s Business Daily concurs: “Once [illegals] get here, they are 50 percent more likely to be on welfare than citizens.

Bush On Open Borders: Sad Epitaph – Amnesty Lover…

Privately President Bush had said he favors citizenship. So it appears that the pro-illegal activists may just get what they have wanted all along.
