America Changes Direction

First, I would like to congratulate the Democrats on their victory tonight on what can be called a historic election in 2006. The Democrats ran a campaign on one sole idea of “THROW THE BUMS OUT” and that is certainly what the American people did.
It was a Republican massacre and bloodbath, for which they certainly deserved. Undoubtedly, the finger pointing will start immediately and you can expect the Republican leadership to be purged. The stage is set for a good thorough house cleaning which certainly is in order.
This country has done a hard left turn and I am not sure the American people realize what they have bargained for. We shall see.
At this point the Senate is 49 to 49 with two races undecided in Virginia and Montana which are subject to recounts. The best that can be expected here is a 50/50 draw but most likely it will be a Democratic majority in the Senate.
The Republicans have no one to blame except themselves. They lost their focus and became the party of patronage, pork and big government spending. They broke their contract with America.
The Democrats in their celebration speeches are promising bipartisan cooperation and this may sound good but it will not last very long. Their leadership is made up of hard-core lefties and come January I seriously doubt that they will be able to contain themselves.
I must admit that I did not see this coming and it is my time to eat some crow. With that, all I am going do is bury my head in a pillow, get some rest, and collect my thoughts for the long fight ahead.
