Worshipping Killers

By Bookworm at Bookworm Room

The Left (both at home and abroad) likes to revile the infamous American President “Chimpy-BusHitler,” but they seem to be taking a pass on some people that even the Left would have to concede have a bit more blood on their hands. Mike Adams and the American Thinker take on the results of that, shall we say, imbalance in beliefs.

Mike Adams’ target is the Che Guevara worship that infects the self-styled “intelligentsia,” who like to swan around in Che shirts, purses and (my personal favorite), darling little clothes for their babies. Che, after all, say the intellectuals, was a “sincere, “Christ-like” “martyr.” Adams’ suggestion is that his University (UNC-Wilmington) acknowledge all this Che worship and build a Che memorial on campus. He further suggests that the University use the Jefferson Memorial as its guide, and that it cover the walls with Che’s own words:

“A revolutionary must become a cold killing machine motivated by pure hate.” Che Guevara.

“If the nuclear missiles had remained we would have used them against the very heart of America, including New York City.” Che Guevara.

“We will march the path of victory even if it costs millions of atomic victims… We must keep our hatred alive and fan it to paroxysm.” Che Guevara.

“Crazy with fury I will stain my rifle red while slaughtering any enemy that falls in my hands! My nostrils dilate while savoring the acrid odor of gunpowder and blood. With the deaths of my enemies I prepare my being for the sacred fight and join the triumphant proletariat with a bestial bowl.” Che Guevara.

“Don’t shoot! I’m Che, I’m worth more to you alive than dead.” Che Guevara.

“(T)o execute a man we don’t need proof of his guilt. We only need proof that it’s necessary to execute him. It’s that simple.” Che Guevara.

Wasn’t it Jack Nicholson who blasted Tom Cruise with the words “You can’t handle the truth“? I wonder what the Che faithful will do when confronted with their hero’s blood-soaked feet of clay.

In Britain, they’ve done away with that problem altogether, according to a letter republished at the American Thinker, by simply coming up with an alternative history when it comes to teaching about Hitler:

So waiting for the Dolphin swim at Discovery Cove in Orlando, my daughter Nikki and I were seated with a Brit family–mom, daughter and son. After small talk about the great value of the pound vs the dollar etc, I mentioned that Churchill was one of my heroes. The son, no more than 16 countered that he really liked Hitler, and his sister Gandhi. I was stunned and sickened.

According to him, Hitler was a great leader and did great things for the German people. He brought them out of depression. His quest for land was only to provide “living space” for the German people. The reason for the London bombings was because Britain “carpet bombed” German cities. Hitler had to attack France, for they were a treat to his effort to gain land for living space. The atrocities of the Holocaust were attributed to the fact that he was “mad”, so it wasn’t his fault. In general, his intentions were noble.

In speaking privately with his mother after my discussion, she stated that this is the new curriculum in the British schools to combat “prejudice” against Germans. They teach the children not to “judge” Hitler.

Of course, this won’t be a problem much longer in England. The British have decided to do away with Hitler altogether, along with such iconic British figures as Queen Elizabeth I and Winston Churchill. Makes you wonder how much longer America’s Europe loving intellectuals can continue to pretend that Europeans out pace us educationally.

Ex-Idol Contestant Arrested on Drug Charges

By Jodi at Webloggin
July 31, 2007 at 3:40 pm in U.S. News

coreyClark.jpgRemember Corey Clark? He was the ex-Idol contestant who alleged he had an affair with Paula Abdul and used recorded phone messages as proof.

He has been arrested on drug charges. Is anyone surprised?

NORTH LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - Corey Clark has been arrested on drug charges and an outstanding warrant from Arizona, authorities said.

The former “American Idol” contestant was being held at the Pulaski County jail pending a court appearance Tuesday in North Little Rock, said John Rehrauer, a spokesman for the sheriff’s department.

Clark was arrested near Interstate 40 at about 2:30 a.m. Monday on charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Rehrauer said.

A warrant had been issued for Clark after he failed to appear in an Arizona court on a summons stemming from an arrest last year for violating a court order and trespassing.

Clark was disqualified after reaching the finals of the popular Fox TV show in 2003 for failing to reveal a previous arrest.

He later accused “Idol” judge Paula Abdul of coaching him and initiating an affair. She denied his allegations, and Fox cleared Abdul of any wrongdoing.

As an avid “Idol” watcher, I have to say I never liked that guy. He gave me the heebie-jeebies from the get go.

I admit, I did wonder if she bed him, the taped messages were pretty revealing; then I wondered what the hell she must have been on had she. You would need some pretty big beer goggles, if you know what I mean.

NAACP Defends Vick-tim

By Big Dog at Big Dog's Weblog
July 31, 2007 at 1:23 pm in U.S. News

michaelVick.jpgThe NAACP is an organization whose time has come and long gone. They might have had grand ideals and might have been necessary when they were formed but they have morphed into a racist organization that is hell bent on advancing black issues by employing the same racist and discriminatory practices they are supposed to combat and that supposedly are in great abundance within the white community. The NAACP is very quick to condemn any white person accused of a crime (especially if it is against a black) but they go out of their way to defend black people who are accused of a crime. Such is the case with Michael Vick.

I do not know if Michael Vick did the horrible things of which he has been accused. I believe that he deserves his day in court and that we should not be too hasty in convicting him in the court of public opinion before he has that said day in court. However, I don’t think it is racist or out of the norm for his employer (in this case the NFL) to tell him he is not allowed to practice or play until this is resolved. They are his employer and they are free to establish standards for their employees including getting involved in acts that bring discredit upon them. Likewise, the companies who are paying Vick mega millions are free to suspend the contracts until the issue is resolved. This is not racist and it is not unfair and contrary to what the NAACP is saying, the actions are not premature. Vick was not denied his right to due process under the law. Due process, by the way, is what people are entitled to with regard to the legal system. The people who have suspended Vick have not violated his due process rights because he has none with regard to his employment. He does not even have to be found guilty to be punished by his boss. He brought discredit on the NFL and his team and they can punish him for that alone. Regardless of how they decide to handle it in the future, he is not being treated unfairly.

It is interesting that the NAACP is out in full force begging people not to pass judgment until Vick has had his trial. Where are all these people when a white cop shoots a black kid in a high crime neighborhood? They are usually calling for the cop to be strung up and organizing marches to demonstrate against white oppression and they do all this long before there is any kind of investigation. In their minds the cop is guilty of murder and being a racist and they feel no need to wait for a trial. Additionally, when the investigation is complete and the cop is not found to have done anything wrong these very same people protest about the cover up of the racist police force. The cop involved in the shooting is usually placed on administrative duty or put on paid leave until the investigation is complete (just like Vick who is drawing a salary) and yet the NAACP does not protest that the cop is innocent until proven guilty.

In Baltimore a Fire Station became the target of the NAACP after a stuffed deer head had a mop placed on it (which some say looked like an afro) and a gold tooth placed in its mouth. The NAACP discussed racism and talked about how the whites in the fire department were all racists and that it was horrible that blacks had to put up with this. The head of the Baltimore branch of the NAACP, Doc Cheatham, raised hell about this issue and it was all over talk radio (I listened to it for days). The fire department said they would investigate but that did not stop the calls for the deer head to be removed and for racism to end in Baltimore’s Fire Department. All of the whites in the station were portrayed as racists despite the fact that no investigation had yet been done to find out what happened. Talk radio was flooded with calls from the station in question and the listeners heard the horrible truth, a black guy did it. That is right, a black guy decorated the deer head. To the NAACP that made no difference and Doc never apologized like a real man would.

So we get to Michael Vick and all of the sudden we are supposed to allow him to keep getting money from the products he endorses and he is supposed to continue playing football until he has a trial. This is a convenient double standard and one that shines a bright spotlight on the fact that the NAACP is an organization that needs to pack it in. They raise holy hell about a deer head but dismiss the brutality that Vick is alleged to have committed. Sure, some of them said if he did it he should get what he deserves.

I just wish the NAACP had that same attitude when a white cop shoots a black kid in a high crime neighborhood.

Reporters Go Sightseeing To The Gaza Strip - I’m Not Surprised

By Jodi at Webloggin
July 31, 2007 at 8:51 am in Feature Article, Hamas, Linkfest

Hamas is very upset about the bad wrap they have been getting recently.

Question: What do terrorists do in an attempt to sway hearts and minds toward their warped ways?

Answer: They call on the MSM to take them on a sightseeing tour. True to MSM form, they hopped right on board that propaganda wagon and away they went.

This is the result:

Never mind the international isolation, growing poverty and reports of violent retribution against its defeated Fatah rivals. In Hamas’ own eyes, its takeover of Gaza has made the coastal strip “safe, clean and green.”

Safe? Somehow I doubt that, but if there is an ounce of truth to that statement it is because everyone lives in fear at the end of a rocket launcher. You would be hard pressed to find someone who will volunteer to step out of line with an AK-47 pointing at their head.

In an attempt to get that message across, Hamas took two busloads of foreign journalists on an air conditioned tour of Gaza on Monday — including a stop in a refugee camp where the deposed prime minister waved from his balcony and a prison visit hosted by one of Hamas’ most powerful military men.

Wow, “an air conditioned tour of Gaza”, complete with a “deposed prime minister” waving from his balcony. Sounds great.

Another bonus to this “tour” is that these lucky reporters got to meet one of “Hamas’ most powerful military men” in a terrorist style “meet and greet”.

Justice Roberts Seizure Called No Cause For Concern

By Terry Trippany
July 31, 2007 at 12:00 am in Court Watch, Feature Article, Linkfest, Moonbat Mania, U.S. News

Justice John Roberts is recovering from “a benign idiopathic seizure” according to doctors at Penobscot Bay Medical Center where he was taken after a fall.

“It’s my understanding he’s fully recovered, said Christopher Burke, a spokesman for Penobscot Bay Medical Center, where Roberts was taken.

Roberts, 52, was taken by ambulance to the medical center, where he underwent a “thorough neurological evaluation, which revealed no cause for concern,” Arberg said in a statement.

Roberts had a similar episode in 1993, she said.

Doctors called Monday’s incident “a benign idiopathic seizure,” Arberg said. The White House described the January 1993 episode as an “isolated, idiosyncratic seizure.” Both descriptions indicate that doctors could not determine the seizure’s cause or link it to another medical condition. For example, doctors would have quickly ruled out simple explanations such as dehydration or low blood sugar.

Seizure classifications fall under very strict guidelines. The classification of the seizure is important from both a clinical perspective with respect to cause and the likelihood of recurrence. In this case it is being classified as a benign idiopathic seizure. They seem careful not to call it a Idiopathic epileptic seizure, likely because it does not have a recurrent pattern usually associated with epilepsies and was of a short duration. They are simply stating that the seizure is unprovoked with no precipitating factors and it is not symptomatic.

The doctors went beyond a simple idiopathic classification and labeled it benign, which means that they believe it is favorable for recovery (and hopefully having low chance of recurrence). But that doesn’t stop the AP from finding a doctor that knows nothing of Roberts from labeling it as epilepsy, which is technically correct because Roberts has had 2 seizures, and stating that there is a 60 percent chance that Roberts will have another.

Monday News Roundup

By Jodi at Webloggin
July 30, 2007 at 6:36 pm in Feature Article, Gaza, Pakistan, Palestine, The War on Terror

newscoffee.jpgAfghanistan:

The Taliban has claimed that they have killed Korean hostage number 2 because the Afghan government has not released their terrorist buddies from prison.

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - A purported Taliban spokesman claimed the hardline militia killed a second South Korean hostage Monday because the Afghan government failed to release imprisoned insurgents. Afghan officials said they hadn’t recovered a body and couldn’t confirm the claim.

The Al-Jazeera television network, meanwhile, showed footage that it said was seven female hostages in Afghanistan.

Militant spokesman Qari Yousef Ahmadi said senior Taliban leaders decided to kill the male captive because the government had not met Taliban demands to trade prisoners for the Christian volunteers, who were in their 12th day of captivity.

Who in their right mind would believe that the release of more Taliban terrorists would stop their barbaric behavior?

Pakistan:

Here we go again, pro-Taliban terrorists have seized another Mosque.

Still Bowing Down in the Saud Thrown Rooms

By Layla Gonzalez at The HILL Chronicles
July 30, 2007 at 2:26 pm in Feature Article

The United States obviously will never learn from her past. With the state of world affairs, a failing Iraq, Iran looming as a threat, our president still manages to find time to bow down in the Saud thrown rooms. Bush is brokering deals that help no one but terrorists and the Saudis themselves. How naive our government still is and our president who once said that he knew better and would never deal with terrorists, or terror sponsoring states. Bush has rescinded. Of course in the wake of this is the dissing of Israel.

Never say never:

Liberals Go Fox Hunting Just Be-Kos They Can

By Big Dog at Big Dog's Weblog
July 30, 2007 at 10:08 am in Liberalism Watch, Media Watch

foxHunt.jpgSeveral liberal organizations including MoveOn and the Daily Kos are going after companies who advertise on the Fox News Channel. The stated reason is that Fox depicts itself as fair and balanced but the groups say it really leans conservative and hides that fact. Therefore, under their idea of how the world works they are having people monitor Fox and listing all the companies and products that advertise and then they will ask them to stop advertising. I guess the boycott is the next thing on the plate for these miscreants.

Pocketbook Environmentalism

By Bookworm at Bookworm Room
July 30, 2007 at 7:15 am in Feature Article

I’ve mentioned before that the home page on Mr. Bookworm’s browser is the New York Times, which very much affects his outlook on things. I’ve therefore been unsurprised that, in the past year or so, my husband has been mouthing a lot of “green” stuff. “Turn off the lights, to help stop global warming.” “We don’t need the heater on; it’s creating global warming.” “I want a new energy efficient car to help stop global warming.” The kids, who already get the sermon at school (usually in the form of endless pieces of paper reminding us in a sentence or two per page to recycle), get a repeat from Mr. Bookworm at home.

What did surprise me, though, was Mr. Bookworm’s behavior on this vacation. We’re staying at a very nice hotel, which is generous with the towels — and Mr. Bookworm more than takes advantage of that generosity. He goes through at least five per day. He also showers for a half hour at a time and leaves all the lights on in the room. When I task him with this, not on green grounds, but simply because I hate waste, he says it’s part of what he’s paying the hotel for. In another words, he’s not green at all. He just mouths it to justify what some might call cheap (and I call “waste not, want not”).

I suspect my husband’s skin deep, pocket book environmentalism is not unique. Indeed, nothing shows that more clearly than the Gore-ish, and foolish, reliance on carbon offset credits, which are nothing more than a way to be profligate with energy sources, while at the same time denying any responsibility.

Picture of the Month - This Woman Wants To Be Your President!

By Terry Trippany
July 28, 2007 at 9:49 pm in Election 2008, Linkfest, Picture of the Day

I urge Republican’s to look very closely before you decide to sit out in 2008!

The above picture is legit. It was taken on Friday, July 27, 2007 by AP photographer Jeff Gentner (link here) at West Virginia State University in Institute, W.Va. I’d call it the true face of a power hungry madwoman. Speaking of which, the picture below is of Marti Comyns who obviously feels the same.
