It appears to be Rosie O’Donnell Day here at Webloggin.

Brain
I could while away the hours, conferrin’ with the flowers
Consultin’ with the rain.
And my head I’d be scratchin’ while
my thoughts were busy hatchin’
If I only had a brain.
I’d unravel every riddle for any individ’le,
In trouble or in pain.
With the thoughts you’ll be thinkin’
you could be another Lincoln
If you only had a brain.
Oh, I could tell you why The ocean’s near the shore.
I could think of things I never thunk before.
And then I’d sit, and think some more.
I would not be just a nothin’ my head all full of stuffin’
My heart all full of pain.
I would dance and be merry, life would be a ding-a-derry,
If I only had a brain.

In some way, the intellectual differences between moonbats and me can easily be distilled down to thoughts about 15 captured British sailors. Rosie O’Donnell, an exhibitionist lesbian who would quickly be put to death were she an Iranian citizen, earnestly opines on American television that the Iranians acted in good faith to defend their territorial integrity, and that we should believe all of their promises and representations. (This touching faith in the Iranians is just a launching pad for accusing the U.S. Government of being behind 9/11, of course).
Rosie holds to this laughable position despite the fact that the Iranians have had to adjust their manifest lies in order to make them fit with irrefutable facts. She also does this despite the fact that the Iranians have made a special effort to humiliate and demean the one British woman captured — something that seems not to bother Rosie’s feminist sensibilities.
Can’t you just imagine the convoluted thinking in Rosie’s brain as she tried to deal with this assault on Western womanhood? It’s kind of like that old kid’s joke about falling out of an airplane. You remember: I fell out of an airplane. That’s bad. I had a parachute. That’s good. The parachute broke. That’s bad. But I landed in a river. That’s good. But I can’t swim. That’s bad. And on and on until your ingenuity, or your audience’s patience, gives out.
In the Rosie version, it goes:

A total black out - no one mentions it, but Rosie O’Donnell is out of control. She says that Bush plotted 9/11 - she bates Donald Trump - anything goes in Rosieland. Free speech - sure - right speech - no way, but Rosie makes the headlines, she rakes in the money. Despite reported “The View ” ratings have dropped, people are still watching. Looks like Barbara Walters not only lost her backbone, but she lost her trump power. Network presidents just want the money. Greed - the corruptible seed.
Are the rankings tanking on ‘The View’? Rosie O’Donnell has always desperately tried to latch on to bigger stars, bigger shows and bigger issues but as of late it appears that she has a tin foil hat placed on her head and even hanging upside down won’t remove it. Apparently she has been given the green light by once respected journalist Barbara Walters to now spout fringe theories and her latest is a doozy. On the air and on her blog Rosie believes that the British soldiers now being held hostage by Iran wanted to be captured. On her blog Rosie writes: “The British did it on purpose.” [emphasis mine] (source)
And of course there is more Rosie trash as I mentioned above:
Rosie is also heavily into the 9/11 conspiracy camp that blames America for the attacks on the World Trade Center. The Post Chronicle has a fantastic wrap up of links that you can peruse and decide for yourself. (source)
The British did it on purpose - there is a 9/11 conspiracy, what? This is sheer absurdity! Good going Rosie because we know you say these inane things ON PURPOSE! Shame on you!

I like John Travolta as an actor. I also like that even though he is a Scientologist he doesn’t try to force it down other people’s throats like Tom Cruise does. At least that’s what I thought. But as this article points out, “His serious aviation habit means he is hardly the best person to lecture others on the environment. But John Travolta went ahead and did it anyway.“

John Travolta Lectures Us On Alternative Methods Of Fuel
The 53-year-old actor, a passionate pilot, encouraged his fans to “do their bit” to tackle global warming.
But although he readily admitted: “I fly jets”, he failed to mention he actually owns five, along with his own private runway.
Clocking up at least 30,000 flying miles in the past 12 months means he has produced an estimated 800 tons of carbon emissions – nearly 100 times the average Briton’s tally.
Travolta made his comments this week at the British premiere of his movie, Wild Hogs.
He spoke of the importance of helping the environment by using “alternative methods of fuel” – after driving down the red carpet on a Harley Davidson.
Travolta, a Scientologist, claimed the solution to global warming could be found in outer space and blamed his hefty flying mileage on the nature of the movie business.
But his appointment as a “serving ambassador” for the Australian airline Qantas doesn’t seem to have much to do with the movies. Nor does a recent, two-month round-the-world flying trip.
“It [global warming] is a very valid issue,” Travolta declared. “I’m wondering if we need to think about other planets and dome cities.
“Everyone can do their bit. But I don’t know if it’s not too late already. We have to think about alternative methods of fuel.
“I’m probably not the best candidate to ask about global warming because I fly jets.
Oh, there’s LOTS MORE to read here.

Minutemen Civil Defense Corps sent me this news tip. Please read. We must do all we can to secure our borders, and right now the MCDC on the California-Mexico border are doing the job the federal government refuses to do.
Read on….
MCDC April 2007 Events
Operation: Stand Your Ground!
Starting March 31 thru April 29 the California chapter of the Minutemen Civil Defense Corps will be providing coverage of our California-Mexico border, doing the job the federal government refuses to do.
During this time we will be standing watch looking for people crossing into California along the southern border where there is a high amount of illegal immigrant and drug traffic during the day and nights. Our teams will be reporting all activity to the local Border Patrol offices so that law enforcement officials can apprehend these people.
We will also be working on several improvement projects around camp “Vigilance”, our new campsite in Boulevard, CA. that resides on almost 8 acres of land that is just 2 miles north of the Mexican border and right in the middle of one of the heaviest trafficked areas in California for illegals to cross into America.
We are planning a special “Open House” event for members to bring their friends and family down to see the camp, and to take a tour of what the federal government actually calls the “Border Fence”. This event will be the weekend of April 20-22 (after Tax time). Light snacks, hot dogs, chips, desert and drinks will be provided, please invite those family and friends that you think would be interested in attending this event. We would also like to know how many in your party are going to be attending so we can plan accordingly for refreshments and transportation to the border fence. (Please no children under 18, no shorts or open toe shoes)
If you have not come down to the border in the last year, we miss you and need your help, we know everyone needs some of your time, but in the “Big Picture” so do we! We need help from those other 1450 members who are sitting at home watching American Idol, golf or cutting the lawn on Saturday, please make time to come down in April for this event. Bring your cameras and binoculars with you!
We will be sending out press releases to all of the media stations, print, radio & TV local and nationwide to get coverage of the progress that we have made on protecting our southern border.
For those of you who have not been down to camp, we have a full tent area, complete RV hookups for 8+, and our own “Mountain retreat” 1 bedroom apartment with private bath and kitchen.
Also if you are interested in assisting the
“April Event Planning Team” please contact us at: reservations@campvigilance.com or call us at: 619-567-4110
For reservations of tent, RV spots or the “Mountain Retreat”, please send an email to: reservations@campvigilance.com
If you absolutely cannot make it down to the April muster, send in a donation to the group showing your continued support to:

The image is from Michael Cutler’s article, “Congress Shadow Boxing with Illegal Immigration Crisis” discussing the latest attempts at immigration reform in congress. It’s a very good article and you should go read it all. He discusses the Guest Worker Amnesty program, the step-across-the-border-and-back-again citizenship, the the Real ID Act.
Mr. Cutler quotes some very interesting statistics from a report for the Center for Immigration Studies by George J. Borjas, a noted economist and the Robert W. Scrivner Professor of Economics and Social Policy at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
To sum up some of Prof. Borjas’ findings:
• By increasing the supply of labor between 1980 and 2000, immigration reduced the average annual earnings of native-born men by an estimated $1,700 or roughly 4 percent.
• Among natives without a high school education, who roughly correspond to the poorest tenth of the workforce, the estimated impact was even larger, reducing their wages by 7.4 percent.
• The 10 million native-born workers without a high school degree face the most competition from immigrants, as do the eight million younger natives with only a high school education and 12 million younger college graduates.
• The negative effect on native-born black and Hispanic workers is significantly larger than on whites because a much larger share of minorities are in direct competition with immigrants.
• The reduction in earnings occurs regardless of whether the immigrants are legal or illegal, permanent
or temporary. It is the presence of additional workers that reduces wages, not their legal status.
His report was prepared in 2004. Obviously, the rapid increase in the number of illegal aliens in the United States can only have exacerbated the impact on wages since then.
What I find particularly interesting is that in the news article, the AFL-CIO complains that the proposed legislation would permit 400,000 additional alien workers to enter the United States resulting in depressed wages for the labor market. (read it all)
It seems pretty clear to me, so why is congress having such a difficult time passing legislation? I’ll tell you why, because they have no intention of passing a comprehensive immigration bill before the 2008 presidential elections. It’s that simple.

When you add up a lot of little things you begin to see a lot, so let’s start adding up what has been happening in Minnesota. Let’s examine the possibility of Minnesota establishing Sharia Law in the United States.
Minnesota is home for tens of thousands of Somali Muslims who are recent immigrants to this country. At the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport — about four out of five taxi drivers are Muslim; several years ago troubling incidents started to happen starting with the refusal to transport passengers carrying alcohol. Since that time there have been thousands of refusals for taxi service.
Islam prohibits the consumption of alcohol but not its transportation, according to Somalis who reject the taxi drivers’ stance. Yet in June 2006, the Muslim American Society’s (MAS) Minnesota chapter issued a “fatwa” forbidding drivers here from carrying alcohol to avoid “cooperating in sin.”
The leader of the Minnesota chapter of Muslim American Society (MAS) is none other than Omar Shahin. He was also one of the detained “six flying imams” who were removed from a US Airways flight last year. The Chicago Tribune has described MAS as the American arm of the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood, which “preaches that religion and politics cannot be separated and that governments eventually should be Islamic.”
Last week, the six flying imams filed suit in a U.S. district court in Minneapolis against US Airways and the Metropolitan Airports Commission, claiming discrimination and defamation. They also added ‘John Does’ (unnamed passengers who reported their irrational behavior to the airlines) as defendants. Let’s not mince words here; this is a form of intimidation and a warning against the traveling public to keep your mouth shut.
Now let’s add in the latest incident in Minnesota; Muslim cashiers at the Twin Cities Target stores have begun refusing to scan pork products, like bacon and pepperoni pizza, and insisting that other cashiers or the customers do it themselves.
Ahmed Samatar, a recognized expert on Somali society at Macalester College in St. Paul notes that “There is a general Islamic prohibition against drinking, but carrying alcohol for people in commercial enterprise has never been forbidden.” Similarly, Islam prohibits consuming pork, but not touching or scanning it, according to Imam Feisal Abdul Rauf of the American Society for Muslim Advancement in New York. It is, or should be, “a non-issue.”
What should be, “a non-issue” is definitely becoming an issue as radical Muslims are using our civil rights laws to promote Islamist activism. Both MAS and CAIR are stumping for a bill, which would bar airport security personnel from disproportionately questioning Muslims or people of Middle Eastern descent. Minnesota’s Keith Ellison, the nation’s first Muslim Congressman, stated that the imams’ situation reflects a misunderstanding of Muslim prayer and will be sorted out in court, while the other matters stem from the “normal process of immigrant adjustment.”
The “normal process of immigrant adjustment”…. Therein lies the problem, as these people have no wish to adjust to the American way of life and they are hell bent on changing America into a Muslim Society. They are intent on looking for confrontation and eventually confrontation is what they will get when the American public says enough!
Minnesota’s answer should be…adjust, assimilate or your ‘outta’ here.

It seems as if, to the extent the administration still retains cajones, they’re put to a single (and laudable) service: we will not arbitrarily withdraw from Iraq. As to everything else, I think Ann Coulter’s latest screed is correct:
Democrats have the breathtaking audacity to claim that Bush’s replacing his own political appointees is “politicizing prosecutions.”
They say this as Sandy Berger walks free after stealing and destroying top-secret national security documents – but Lewis “Scooter” Libby faces decades in prison for not outing a covert agent. (Let’s hope he’s learned his lesson!)
They say this as Rep. William “The Refrigerator” Jefferson sits on the Homeland Security Committee while waiting for the $100,000 found in his freezer to thaw – but Tom DeLay remains under an indictment by some hick prosecutor in Texas for an alleged accounting violation.
They say this as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid draws interest on the sale of a property he sold in a complicated land swindle – but American hero Randy “Duke” Cunningham rots in prison.
They say this while Sen. Chuck Schumer pays no price whatsoever for his Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee having illegally obtained a copy of Republican Lt. Gov. Michael Steele’s credit report, for which one employee, Lauren Weiner, pleaded guilty, but served no prison time.
***
Democrats have created a world in which a DNC card is a “get out of jail free” card, and “guilt beyond a reasonable doubt” means “no doubt the defendant is Republican.” (If Democrats keep this up, they’ll have to rethink their push to give inmates the right to vote.)
***
Bush should say: “We did it, it was political, and there’s nothing you can do about it.”
Then he should start holding hearings on Congress’ obstruction of the war effort. Members of Congress should be asked to come before the administration’s hearings and testify under oath about their commitment to victory. If they are not traitors, what do they have to hide? Surely they will be willing to state under oath that they are not undermining the war effort for partisan political gain.
The hearings could be televised in prime time: “Traitor or No Traitor?”

In an exclusive report by Judi McLeod, we learn of Christianah Oluwatoyin Olusase, ‘a Christian teacher at Government Day Secondary School in Gombe state, North Nigeria was torn apart, limb-by-limb, by a mob of Muslim students on March 21, 2007.’ Read it and weep:
Details about Christianah’s life are scarce. We do know that her life was dedicated to spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We don’t know how long she taught at Government Day Secondary School, her age, or who are the loved ones prostrated by grief.
The information of her death comes from Compass Direct. And were it not for The Persecution & Prayer Alert, The Voice of the Martyrs Canada, Christianah’s passing would otherwise have gone unnoted.
The details of Christianah’s death are shocking.
Christianah was supervising an all-girl class while they were taking an Islamic Religious Knowledge examination, a routine job by any teacher’s standards the world over.
In accordance to school procedure, the homeroom teacher collected papers, books and bags before the exam papers were passed around. She left them in front of the class for pupils to retrieve later.
One of the girls responded by starting to cry and was soon telling her classmates that there had been a copy of the Quran in her bag left in front of the classroom.
The girl claimed that because Christianah was a Christian, she had desecrated the Quran by touching it.
The students began to chant in unison, “Allahu Akbar” (God is Great)”. These school age girls then beat, stoned and clubbed Christiania to death where she stood.
The deed done, the girls then dragged her corpse outside of the school building and burned it.
There were no flowers or cards left at the burial site as sometimes happens in the outpouring of grief in western culture. No candle vigils were held for Christianah. In fact, it is not even known if her loved ones will be able to give her a decent burial.
There was no outrage of the teacher’s horrific death in any western media, still busy these days following the life and times of the late Anna Nichole Smith.
Go read the rest of the article, other atrocities against Christians by Muslims in the region. Ms. McLeod ends her excellent article like this:
The Voice of the Martyrs asks you to “pray for peace and strength for Christians facing opposition from Muslims in Nigeria.”
God protect all Christians in Muslim nations everywhere.
Amen and Amen.

Columbia University released a presser nearly 10 weeks ago about a "Novel Clinical Trial" involving those damn adult stem cells; you know, the kind we’re supposed to pretend are useless as compared to their embryonic predecessors.
The novelty of course comes from the fact that medical researchers are yet again showing promise using non-embryonic forms of adult stem cells. But this trial goes beyond that simple fact; it has the added novelty of using a person’s own adult stem cells to treat a form of coronary artery disease that is so severe that traditional treatment is not an option.
The results are very preliminary but even if the trial was in the final phase I wouldn’t expect to hear about it in the mainstream media anytime soon. That’s because this study breaches all the taboo’s of liberal activism by the novelty of its sheer existence. Combine that with the fact that the trial is being funded by a (gasp) major "money grubbing" pharmaceutical researcher and you have all the elements necessary to justify below the fold, section c, inside the back page, small left hand corner, 2-3 lines max treatment (with a little luck).
You can read about the specifics of the trial here. The following is a quick synopsis.
Columbia University Medical Center and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital is one of the first medical centers in the country participating in a novel clinical trial investigating if a patient’s own stem cells can treat a form of severe coronary artery disease.
[snip]
"This promising stem cell therapy may be an alternative for patients without any other means to treat their chest pain," says Warren Sherman, site principal investigator, interventional cardiologist at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia and associate professor of medicine at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
[snip]
The stem cells are thought to work by promoting the growth of new vessels to create pathways to the heart muscle, ensuring adequate nutrition and alleviating the pain associated with the myocardial ischemia.
Researchers are encouraged by reports from the Phase I trial that the therapy appeared to be well-tolerated and no serious adverse events directly related to the stem cell therapy were reported. Through the duration of the 12-month study, there were no deaths or heart attacks. Fifteen of the 18 total Phase I subjects who received the cells reported feeling better with reductions in chest pain and/or improved exercise capacity. Though not sufficiently powered to prove efficacy, these results did lead the way to the initiation of the Phase II ACT34-CMI trial.
The study is sponsored by Cellular Therapies, a business unit of Baxter Healthcare Corp. [all emphasis mine]
This is one of many studies that demonstrates the promise of non-embryonic stem cell research. You would think that we would begin to hear about these kinds of breakthroughs especially now that the 2006 elections are over. Instead the politics of liberal activists in the mainstream media has permeated the industry so deeply that they can’t even report on causes they would otherwise champion. The fact of the matter is that this type of news would shed truth on the lie of embryonic stem cell politics and that is something the gate keepers will not tolerate no matter how many lives could be positively affected.
The optimist in me thinks we could make a difference if we started calling embryonic stem cell research by a more appropriate name such as fertilized human baby egg stem cell research. The realist in me knows this would make little difference because the optimist assumes that liberal activists have shame; something the realist in me knows not to be true.
